Running Windows Defender components and Norton Antivirus

Hi,

I don't believe I could find the definitive answer on running Windows Defender and Norton Antivirus components together on Windows 10. Two Defenders components/services are currently still running with Norton AV online installed: Defender Firewall, Defender Security Center Service. The following services show as manual start, so I presume they are not running: D. Advanced Protection Service, D. AV Network Inspection Service, D. AV Service.

Should I attempt to disable the 2 defender services that are still running?

Thanks for the help!

Hello

Welcome to the Norton Community Forum

You need the Windows Firewall since you are running Norton Antivirus. You need both Services to run. I would recommend that you disable Fast Startup in your Power Settings.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Norton Core Security Plus 22.18.0.213 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

Re: Running Windows Defender components and Norton Antivirus

Even if you have a third-party firewall, the Windows Defender Firewall Service needs to be running.  The service is necessary for other Windows security protection.  A third-party firewall will disable the Windows Defender Firewall but will not disable the service.  Defender Security Center is simply a dashboard that shows whether all of your security features are enabled.  It does not interfere with Norton.
