New installations of NIS or transfer of keys

Hello.  I build and re-build many computers each year for family, friends etc (20 or more), and I used to buy lot of NIS licences.  I still have about 8 or 9 copies of NIS that I haven't used.  I've been installing NIS this year and they still work fine - but I have 2 questions :

1) Can I use the unused NIS keys to install NS instead ?

2) If I install a new subscription of NIS, will it still be getting updates for the next 12 months ?  (ie how much longer will NIS be updated)

Thanks !

Re: New installations of NIS or transfer of keys

1. You can use the old NIS keys to activate a 'like' product. ie NIS does not have the backup feature so it would not activate the NS premium product. And you will be restricted to the number of devices that the original NIS product key was valid for. ie Even though NS deluxe covers up to 5 devices, a 3 device NIS key will limit you to 3 devices.

2. As long as you have been updating your NIS installations, they are functionally the same as the new NS products. You might as well install NS and use the NIS key. And yes, the subscription lasts for one year from the date of the first activation on a given key.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
