Norton App Lock doesn't work after restarting my tablet

Hello,

I'm having an issue with "Norton App Lock" on my tablet "eZee'Tab7Q15-L" with Android 6.0.1: The app doesn't work after rebooting the OS, I have to launch the app previously and then it works.

I also have an older tablet with Android 5.0 and the app works after rebooting the OS without the need of launching the app previously.

I already tried to find some questions on internet and I saw some people who they had the same issue, but nothing helped me.

Anyone could help me with this? I just need to make it work after rebooting the tablet without launching the app previously.

Thank you in advance!

Re: Norton App Lock doesn't work after restarting my tablet

On the problem device, check the App Lock setting to ensure the Device Administrator is enabled for App Lock. Tap the three bars at the top left of the App Lock screen. Below the Settings, you should see a setting for Device Administrator. If it Says Activate, tap it to turn the setting on.

If it says deactivate, the setting is already on. If this is the case, disable it. Now go to Android Settings - Apps. Scroll to the App Lock app and clear the app cache and app Data. Then uninstall App Lock, restart your device, then re install App Lock. Restart the device and check that the Device Administrator setting is on.

Then test to see if things work properly.

Re: Norton App Lock doesn't work after restarting my tablet

Thank you @peterweb, I've already tried all of this and it didn't work. However, I've just figured out that accessibility is always disabled for the app after restarting the device so that's why it's not working. I enable it but after restarting the device, it disables it by itself.

Here're some screenshoots I've taken to prove it:

Norton App Lock Service says it's off, but when I go to enable it, I have to disable it and enable it:

So, this is a bug of Android 6.0.1 I guess. Any ideas about how to fix this?

Thank you again :)

Re: Norton App Lock doesn't work after restarting my tablet

Has this just started happening on the one device, or has it been happening for some time? If it just started recently, can you think of any new apps installed, or any OS updates?

See if you can find Battery Optimizations in your Android Settings. If you do see that setting, try turning off optimization for Norton App Lock.  Then test to see if it works correctly. This has helped other users with a similar issue.

Re: Norton App Lock doesn't work after restarting my tablet

Well, the tablet is new... That means, I haven't installed so many apps and I have also tried to do a factory reset but the issue persists.

I already tried to disable battery optimization for Norton App Lock and it didn't fix the issue. I did a research on internet and I saw some people having the same issue (mostly they are Android 6.0.1 users), so my best guess is: It's a bug on Android 6.0.1.

Anyways, it's ok if nobody knows how to fix this. Since Android 5.0 we can add users with restrictions on the system, so it's another alternative instead of using the app, but to be honest, the app is better than that, but well, at least it's better than nothing.

Thank you again for your time, @peterweb

I know it is a different manufacturer, but another user here had an issue with Accessibility getting turned off. It was related to some display software on the phone. Maybe you can see if you have some similar feature on your device.

An update to the App Lock app is being released that addresses the Accessibility Service issue. Update your app and test.

Re: Norton App Lock doesn't work after restarting my tablet

Hey, sorry for replying too late. I've already donwloaded & installed it from Google Play but it doesn't work either. I didn't want to say it, but I also tried some other app locks (made by other developers) and I had the same issue on all of them.

I already checked if I have a feature like the display software, but I didn't find anything.

Anyways, it's ok. I am about to get rid of this because it looks like the problem is my device (I don't know why), so it's not your app's fault.

Thank you!

Don't be shy when trying to diagnose a problem. Sometimes the fact that you had other similar apps that showed the same problem helps with the diagnosis. Or sometimes, they may not have been completely removed that could leave remnants that can cause strange behavior.

Many device manufacturers add proprietary code to the Android system. These changes often mess up how third party apps work on those devices. Sometimes they can be overcome. Other times any fix for that device would cause issues with all other devices.
