Norton Internet Security, Identity part is grey out for Chrome browser

Hi,

I have Norton Internet Security. When I open it, in the first window, the Identity part is greyed out and it says "Setup Required".  It also says "Safeweb/Antiphishing: Not Installed".  This is for the Chrome browser.  For IE, it says "You are protected online" and "Safeweb/Antiphishing Installed".

When I click on "Set Up Now", I am taken to a Norton website, and I installed all 4 extensions offered there (Norton Home Page, Norton Safe Search, Norton Security Toolbar, Norton Identity Safe".  When I open Chrome, all 4 icons are in the toolbar at the top.  However, on NIS, the Identity section is still grey and it still says "Setup Required" and "Safeweb/Antiphishing: Not Installed".

I have tried rebooting my computer.  Exiting and restarting Chrome.  Exiting and restarting NIS.  Reinstalling NIS.  But nothing helps.  I have contacted Norton Support.  I gave them remote control of my computer.  A "Level 1 tech" spent over an hour working on this and couldn't solve the problem.  A "Level 2 tech" spent about 2 hours and couldn't solve the problem either.  They say they will have a "Level 3 tech" contact me within the next 48 hours.

Any thoughts?

Re: Norton Internet Security, Identity part is grey out for Chrome browser

Have you checked which browser is your default?  On Windows 10 if Edge is set as default you used to see an exclamation mark.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Re: Norton Internet Security, Identity part is grey out for Chrome browser

Hello WangChun

Welcome to the Norton Community Forum

If using Windows 8 or higher, please disable Fast Startup and reboot.

Please use a Windows Administrator Account.

Please clear out the Chrome browser cache or perhaps try creating a new Chrome account. If it is working for IE, then I would rule out NIS. I would say it is a problem with your Chrome. Check to see that you have the latest extensions installed and activated. Run Live Update a few times, restart and then run Live Update again a few times until it says you have all the updates.

Please state o/S, Chrome version, NIS version and all other pertinent information. When did this issue start? Did it work ok yesterday? if it did, I would wait until tomorrow and try again tomorrow. Perhaps a Live Update will fix it overnight.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit NSBU 22.17.0.183 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.
