AntiSpam not working with Outlook

I have AntiSpam. In Outlook in Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus, the option for This is not Spam (Green tick), does not work. It used to, maybe on older versions of Norton or Office. From memory, the problem started when I upgraded Norton a while ago. I was told I was getting a superior product, but the problem with this 'superior' product is that AntiSpam doesn't work. It used to work very well. You could select a few emails and mark them as not spam as a group.

I have followed the instructions elsewhere to go to Settings, AntiSpam, Client Integration and marked Outlook as on. And yet it doesn't work still.

Could this be rectified please? Thanks.

John

Re: AntiSpam not working with Outlook

Hello Spiderspoon. Currently the anti-spam feature works in accordance with this article.

Only POP3 and SMTP protocol is supported.

  • POP3 with SSL is not supported.

  • IMAP & Exchange accounts are not supported.

  • If email client is configured in ports other than default ports 110, then the new port needs to be added to protected ports. *This is a misnomer, ONLY ports 25 and 110 exist in the settings to add ports. Adding ports OTHER than these are not allowed.

Indeed, whatever the mail services being used should be supported across the board. I might add this has been an ongoing issue for quite some time. I must use ports 995 & 465 for my POP3/SMTP accounts, although they have to use SSL and I cannot add those ports for those reasons. I DO get the open Norton antispam button, the others related are greyed out. Hope this explains things a bit further for you.

Cheers

Re: AntiSpam not working with Outlook

Hello

I have Office 2013. I disable AntiSpam in Norton Security. I let Outlook do all the catching of Spam. Mine does a good job. There are all sorts of Options, at least in my 2013 version. I also have a Spam Detector from my Email Provider. Hope this helps.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Re: AntiSpam not working with Outlook

Thanks. In my outlook I have 2 gmail accounts and one hotmail account. Both the gmail accounts are IMAP and AntiSpam doesn't work with them. It works with the hotmail account, which I think is Exchange.

Curiously though, I think the problem started when I upgraded to Norton 360. Maybe the older software supported IMAP.

Thanks

Re: AntiSpam not working with Outlook

Outlook assigns good emails to Spam, which I like to move back to Inbox. Or it could be gmail doing it. When Norton AntiSpam works, if you have 10 emails that are really OK, you can select all of them and click on Not Spam and it moves them to the Inbox in one go. With Outlook, you can move them all the Inbox, but this doesn't train the software. Next week or so, they are back in Spam again.

Thanks

John

Re: AntiSpam not working with Outlook

If it is your email provider that is flagging the spam, there is nothing you can do within your email client. You need to go into your Gmail and Hotmail account pages and look for the filtering options.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: AntiSpam not working with Outlook

I have Norton Security v22.16.2.22 and have been using Norton Email Protection for years with Outlook client (O2010, O2013 and nowO2016) using a POP3 account. It has worked extremely well for me up to about a month ago. Now Norton doesn't filter spam very well, and the same spam messages that I've marked over and over.

I don't get it. It is like Norton doesn't remember what messages I've marked previously and it can filter any new spam messages.

I haven't really seen and suggestions on what to do in this thread. Can we get some help, anything to try?

Greg
