Any one else have the peeling NIS icon on the System tray???

Looks like it is being peeled?? any ideas on what's happening. All appears normal although the automatic update appears to be very slow after you switch the machine on,I had to manual update from my admin account as it does not look like it will update from the restricted account if that is the account being used the most after start up.This is the laptop that had the other issue of being unprotected at one stage so I have done a complete uninstall reinstall. I used the NRT 2 plus cleaned everything out with Ccleaner before reinstalling.Hope fully the image is large enough once it is ok'd.

Cheers Mo Windows 7 64 bit, NIS2013

I can't see the image you posted (probably my Firefox settings!) but if it's the icon I'm thinking about it seems to change to this when running in silent mode which it does automatically if running, for example, a full screen app.  I've noticed it when starting a game, when I exit the game, the icon goes back to normal.

Hi mo,

I can't see your image yet, but if it looks like this

it means that NIS 2010 is in Silent mode.

[edit: clarified product version]

That's it Phil!

Can the restricted account put it into silent mode?? As I have not changed anything??....hmmmm time to ask the children!!

I have reset it and all is normal. There is a setting that says "Non Admins access to settings" which is set to off If I slide that to on will it prevent the restricted account from changing NIS'S settings??

Hi mo,

Yes, a restricted account can place NIS 2010 into Silent Mode. However, not all settings are available to restricted account.

Do not change the Non-Admins Access to Settings to on.  It may not be extremely clear, but the default setting of OFF will prevent a restricted account from having the same access as an administrator account.
