Norton 360 VPN blocking websites including Norton

I'm new to Norton 360 and one of the main reasons I bought was for the Secure VPN.  No problems with installing on 4 different devices, but all have the the same VPN issues.  Without apparent rationale, some websites are prevented from loading.  When I turn off VPN, they will load.  Sometimes when I turn VPN back on (no problems with that), these same sites will load -- sometimes not.

Example:  We routinely access the HGTV/DIY home giveaway sweepstakes and the Travel Channel sweepstakes  (yeah, almost no chance of winning, none if you don't enter).  With VPN on, the site starts to load but the Entry box does not.  Turn VPN off and all loads fine.

Having to turn VPN off to access some sites pretty much defeats the purpose of VPN.  VPN version is 2.4.0.561.  Devices are Lenovo laptops (Win10), Samsung tablet and Google Pixel smartphone with current Android.  My home network is set to Trusted (and thankfully it truly is).

(Why is there not item for VPN in the Labels list?)

Re: Norton 360 VPN blocking websites including Norton

Some web sites can detect the use of a VPN and will block access. In your examples of contest sites, they are usually geo locked to the country they are physically located. If your VPN settings are set to another country, you would get the blocks. Although my first comment might still over ride any virtual location choices. The sites just block VPN's. There is nothing that Norton can do in those cases.

Re: Norton 360 VPN blocking websites including Norton

Thanks, good to know.  The VPN is set to US so don't expect that problem.  Also, would you think that the Norton website would be blocked as you suggested?  And is VPN flakiness a known issue?  I've had a few problems with other VPNs, but none as consistent as with the Norton.  This happens on at least 25% of the sites I attempt to access.

Norton is aware of some issues with the VPN feature in the new Norton 360 products. Future updates should address those issues.
