Long Scan Times.

Has anyone else notice that the time it takes to scan your computer , both Full and Quick Scans, had dramatically increased? It took over 5 hours to run a Full scan today. That is about 2 hours longer than normal. The Quick scan takes anywhere from 40 to 45 minutes which is up from about 8 to 10 minutes. Those times are ridiculous. The Costume Task is taking longer too. It also seems to take longer to open Norton.

Please see sparks118's recent thread Quick Scan Taking Longer.  Krusty13 noted <here> in that thread that the release notes for the latest Norton v22.19.8.65 (which began rolling out 13-Sep-2019) state "Performance improvement made to reduce Full System Scan time".

EDIT:

I don't know if this is relevant, but the labels for your original post indicates you have a Windows 7 SP1 machine.  Apostolos noted <here> these long scans were occurring on their 64-bit Win 7 SP1 machines, and it's possible the problem is related to the special Norton v22.18.0.222 update released on 30-Aug-2019 for Win 7 SP1 (but not Win 8.x or Win 10) per the release notes <here>.

I have run Live Update and have the newest version. I ran a Full Scan and it came in under 3 hours. The Quick Scan is still clocking in at around 40-50 minutes. Thanks for your response !

I think the problem is back. I am currently about an hour into a Full Scan and it has only scanned about 75000 items of what is usually about a 500000 item scan.

Update.....my most recent full scan took 4 hours and 10 minutes.

Update: 

Issue "Quick scan taking longer time to complete" has been fixed with latest virus definitions. Please run LiveUpdate from Norton product to receive latest definitions and let us know the issue fix status. Thanks
