VPN wont open to the interface

When I double click the VPN icon it runs the blue circular start up flash ....and then.....nothing.  VPN shows open in the task manager, I just cant interface with it to connect/disc .  If I double click it again and again out of frustration I just end up with Norton VPN running 6 times in the task manager but still never see an interface box.

Ideas?

Re: VPN wont open to the interface

If you are running the Stand Alone version of Norton Secure VPN, or the version included in the new Norton 360 product?

For the Stand Alone version you need to single click on the VPN icon in your system tray. That should bring up the interface. If you cannot see it, look in the hidden icons section by clicking on the little up arrow to the left of the other system tray icons.

If you have the VPN feature included in the new 360 product, after you have clicked to start the VPN, once it has connected, the button should have changed to an 'Open' button, Clicking that will bring up the interface.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: VPN wont open to the interface

This is the second time I've had issues with VPN start up.  I had to do a full reload of Norton 360 last time.  I just did the new Windows 10 update last night suggested by both Norton and the NSA.  Now I try to right click the Norton 360 icon in the tray and then Open Secure VPN.  Nothing.  I try both interfaces including Classic but I can't get VPN to open or start.  Does this require another reinstall?

Re: VPN wont open to the interface

For the third time now I have a similar problem; in my case, when I open 360 I get a "dead" link to the VPN.
The first time a support tech fixed it rather quickly and easily; the second time a different tech had to delete then re-install 360. This time, it says "No Internet Connection" while everything else I log on to is connected. You'll have to take my word for that since I tried to send an attachment only to learn that I can't use a png. file for my attachment and a picture showing in vivid detail what I've reported wouldn't show much in txt, and it's far too much hassle to use pdf or zip on my computer.

Re: VPN wont open to the interface

Krusty15 - getting closer to an resolution, not there yet.  Option 5 seems to be the issue in my case.  Yes, Ethernet 2 is the one for my Symantec TAP Driver, but it shows I have a network cable unplugged - not Disabled.  I don't have a wired connection, I'm running wireless.  I've tried disabling and re-enabling it and tried to Open Secure VPN again.  No dice...    I've also tried seeing if there was a new driver for this device, also without success.  Last thing was to Disable, then re-enable, shutdown and bring it all up again.  Still no change.  Norton VPN will not open, the Secure VPN option shows No Internet Connection and the Open VPN button remains grayed out.

Re: VPN wont open to the interface

Ooo...K...   I was getting ready to shut down for the night and opened the Windows 10 window for Firewall and Network protection.  The Domain Network showed a hyperlink with "status unavailable, Open Norton 360 for information".  I did click the link and the My Norton window came up with the Secure VPN button for Open VPN not grayed out.  I was then able to normally get a secure VPN connection.  Also the Ethernet 2 connection shows up now as Unidentified Network.  What goes on with that?  I'm going to bed and check this out more in the morning...At least I'll see if this is repeatable or it is now fixed by outside forces beyond my control (Norton admin?).

Re: VPN wont open to the interface

Hello. I have the same problem! I thought it was only me! Now I see all customers have the same problem. So it's from Norton's side.

My Norton Secure VPN (along with 360 Deluxe) most of the time is disabled. Both in the My Norton screen and Right Click Menu of Norton (Open Secure VPN).

It enables and disables BY ITSELF. I have no control on it. :( Norton's programmers must fix this critical bug. I have this problem for about 6 or 7 months!!!
