64-bit version of NIS 2010?

I refer to an earlier post:

http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&message.id=65234&query.id=1184260#M65234

wherein a Symantec software engineer explains that NIS 2010 does not have native 64-bit support and "it probably won't happen in the near future."

I'll be the first to admit that I don't really understand the difference between a native 32-bit executable and a native 64-bit executable, but maybe it doesn't matter. My real question is:

Can I transfer the NIS 2010 that I currently have on my 32-bit Windows XP PC when I buy a new 64-bit Windows 7 PC, or do I have to buy a 64-bit version of NIS 2010?

Re: 64-bit version of NIS 2010?

Hi Bulldoggy,

NIS 2010 is compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit version of Windows 7. For more information, see over here (under "System Requirements"):

http://www.symantec.com/norton/internet-security

What NIS 2010, or rather its browser add-ons, cannot run on is Internet Explorer 64-bit - the Norton add-ons only work in the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer - which is supplied in Windows 7.

For more information on Norton products and Windows 7, it is strongly recommended that you prepare yourself by reading this document:
