Corrupt nua.exe file on start up warning...slow computer since the 3rd Jan

Hi All

This is happening on my mums pc,I can not physically get there to help her so I help her via email/phone calls.I am looking at uninstalling her 2010 version and running the removal tool then getting her to re install a non corrupt version of NIS2011...trouble is I can not find where to get the clean version from...

What I usually do is get her to down load the Norton removal tool save it where she can find it and then the same for the NIS2011...then she can safetly shut off from the net until she starts up the new installation and can reconnect then.

Can someone point me to the link I can send her for the download of NIS2011.

Much appreciated.

Her's is  an desktop XP SP3

Cheers Mo Windows 7 64 bit, NIS2013

Re: Corrupt nua.exe file on start up warning...slow computer since the 3rd Jan

NUA.exe is a legitimate Norton process.  It is a update notifier for those using older versions that a newer version of their Norton Product is available.

Please access your Norton account to copy your product key and to see whether you had Norton Internet Security (which always comes with a firewall) or Norton AntiVirus (no firewall) installed:

http://www.mynortonaccount.com/

Accordingly, you can download NAV or NIS 2011 from one of the appropriate links below and save the installation package to your computer:

www.norton.com/nis11 (Norton Internet Security)

www.norton.com/nav11 (Norton AntiVirus)

You will need your product key to activate Norton 2011. During the activation, your remaining subscription days will be automatically picked up. If you encounter any difficulties during activation, such as a notification saying that you have exceeded the number of allowed activations, please contact Symantec Customer Support at the link below - you can chat with them for free - and they will be able to sort out things for you:

Re: Corrupt nua.exe file on start up warning...slow computer since the 3rd Jan

Hi thanks for the link,

It seems the problem has resovlved itself....after a few days the rest of NIS2011 arrived on mums pc...I don't know why she had to experience all the NUA.exe errors and computer freezes but today the 11th all is up and running smoothly with a new updated 2011.

Guys/Symantec you have to take into account the elderly who do not understand the way a PC works (I barely do)...maybe you should have a premptive message saying NIS is about to have a major update just so they are aware of what is happening on their computer. It caused a lot of stress on my mother as she did not understand what was happening.

I am thankfull of you trying new approaches to keeping peoples computers upto date with your latest product....but these teething problems are hard when it effects your family who live overseas.

Just some background to how she operates her PC that you can maybe take into consideration for updating computers...she turns her PC on and off quite regularly...so I am thinking this may have been part of the problem of not allowing the update to come in smoothly.Or was it just a error that could not have been avoided.

thanks for listening.

Cheers Mo Windows 7 64 bit, NIS2013
