Norton Support

I URGENTLY SUGGEST YOU DO NOT PURCHASE FROM NORTON.

MY SOFTWARE PURCHASE  TOTALLY REFUSED TO DOWNLOAD AND I CANNOT GET ANY REPLY FROM NORTON

WHEN I REQUESTED A REFUND. NOR WILL THEY REPLY TO ANY REQUEST FOR HELP.

i HAVE WASTED AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF TIME ON WHAT TURNS OUT TO BE NO BETTER THAN A SCAM

Re: Norton Support

Hello Graham,

Very sorry to hear your problem.  Can I suggest you contact Customer Support?  I've found Live Chat is often the quickest.  You can reach them at http://www.norton.com/chat.

Re: Norton Support

I'm sorry about the difficulty you have experienced when you tried to download the Norton after the purchase. Make sure you got the Order confirmation email. If you have got the order number, you could go to your Norton account and download the Norton from there. If you still have somes issues with download, and you can always contact the support as they are available 24/7.

Re: Norton Support

Graham,

Sorry to hear of your problem. It can certainly be resolved as indicated by others but could you let us know where you were ordering it from and from where you were trying to download it since there are a lot of scams about.

Have you actually paid for what you did not get?

Please give us some more information since Norton really is not a scam and it is rare for things to go wrong like that. Once you have confirmation of your order we can give you a direct link to download the installation file if you are having trouble getting it from your MyNortonAccount or wherever.

Re: Norton Support

Does anyone here happen to know if Symantec is still contracting with Digital River to handle/provide their direct online sales (and the product downloads that are related to those direct online sales)?

Regards,

John

Re: Norton Support

I believe I remember being told that the arrangement with Digital River had ended to the extent that the Norton Store is now operated by Norton itself.

This would appear to be supported by news reports back in 2010.

Re: Norton Support

I ordered on-line direct and got confirmation email. My credit card was debited immediately.

I have been through 'My Norton Account' repeatedly and it still shows I have not downloaded. Further more, it appears to show I have only a few days to go before expiry. This I put down to having the trial version I reactivated when I took my computer back to original  manufacturers installation.

Sorry no to reply sooner

When you  did a system restore to factory conditions it will have restored any security device that may have been provided then as a preinstalled trial -- often but not always Norton.

How did you remove that before installing the Norton trial you say you have? If it was not identical to what you have installed as a trial and to what you want to continue using then it needs to use a special cleanup tool that you can download from most security program web sities and we can give you the link for Norton and for other brands,  if you tell it what it was.

If that side is OK and the trial you have is what you want to keep then you do not have to download anything -- you should be able to activate it with the KEY that came by email when you purchased on line. Did you get what looks like an activation key with your confirmation email -- it may be a bunch of characters in groups or a long string but in either case you can copy it from the email and paste it into the box for a key that you get to by clicking on Renew or Subscrcribe on the front main screen and clicking on the link where it says you have an existing key.

The reason you are having a problem downloading may be because you already have the same product installed, or even a more recent version than the download.

Alternatively if you have no security program installed at present having uninstalled the trial you mention then you should still clean up with the Norton Removal Tool and I suggest you then download the Norton Internet Security 2012 from the link below and install that and run live update after going into Settings / Update and turning OFF the Automatic download of new version [This feature downloads the new files to upgrade to 2013 V20 but does not install them and I think it is better to delay this for the moment.

Firstly, let us know about the previous security programs and the KEY in the confirmation email.

Seconly since I won't be online as frequently as usual during the next couple of days here are the links fro the Norton Removal Tool and to download a single installation file for NIS 2012:

This link Symantec Norton Removal Tool. will direct you to the Symantec Norton Removal Tool -- note that if you have any other Norton products installed it will uninstall them too and you would have to reinstall them.

Also if you have beeen using the Identity Safe and want to keep it when you upgrade to 2013 you should export it to a safe place where you can find it again.

Did either computer have any other security software on it when you started downloading to install Norton 360? If so what is it; if there was and you removed it how did you remove it? Apart from the normal uninstalling nearly every security program has a special cleanup tool on its website that you can download and run after the normal install. Let us know first and we can point you to the right tools to use including one for Norton products if you had one installed -- like the trial versions that come on new computers. If they are identical to what you want to install now you may not have to clean up and we can tell you the shortcut.

New NIS 2012: Click on this link -- NIS 2012

This will download a single file of around 100MB which you should save on your hard drive where you can use it again if necessary -- Do not select Run but use Save when asked and remember where you put it!

Or if all that is too much for you, then contact the Norton OnLine Support Team via CHAT as suggested already since they have tools to sort out activation problems and can probably get it installed and working for you, but be careful if you do use the Identity Safe since if they do a clean install without saving the Identity Safe data, as I recommended, then you can lose the ability to keep the data file on your PC and can only use the "in the clouds" route.

Please let us know how you get on or if you have any queries ....
