Norton behind high Windows led light usage?

Hello. This is probably a simple issue, but I wanted to ask to get some peace of mind. It's about the orange light on the computer's hard drive. While the computer's on, it constantly flashes once or twice every second or so. Occasionally though, shortly after the computer is logged off, the light is on for about 20 minutes or so, like it's running something, then goes back to normal.

Then, just recently, when I log onto my profile and get onto Internet Explorer, the light begins to run again unusually for about 5 minutes, then returns to normal. It only seems to happen to me, not anyone else.

Is there any possibly Norton Internet Security is behind some of this? Is there anything serious about any of this activity and if so, what should I do about it? Thanks!

Re: Norton behind high Windows led light usage?

Ok, just a little bit ago, I restarted the computer to install an update from LiveUpdate. I also sent a desktop icon from Norton called "Norton Removal Tool" to the recycle bin which I had used a couple days ago, partially because I felt it was irrelevent and because the icon would occasionally flash which bugged me. After I did these things, the issue I mentioned in the second column seems to have gone for now. I'll keep my eye on it. Coud any of this be related? Thanks!

The icon should not affect anything. It is quite likely that the LiveUpdate may have fixed something that was not working right on your system.

Re: Norton behind high Windows led light usage?

Well, it looks like I was wrong. It's still doing it. When I get on Internet Explorer, it runs for about 5 minutes, then goes back to normal. But I've noticed it doesn't seem to happen every time. And it still looks like I'm the only one it does this with.

Is it possible having alot of Temporary Internet Files could be responsible? I've noticed when I do Full system scans on Norton, I have a significantly higher number of files than the other users on the computer.

Could any of this be normal behavior? Am I just being paranoid?

Try clicking on Support - Get Support to run  Autofix to check your installation and fix what it finds.

Be sure you have run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available.
