Orange light on and internet explorer slow.

Hello. Just now on our Windows 7 computer, the orange progess light has been on for a while, even when no programs are up. In addition, Internet Explorer 8 is running slower than usual. A little bit ago, it wouldn't even come up. I turned off then turned on the router, which seemed to help, but it's still slow. Could these two events be connected? Could this be evidence of a virus and how could I deal with this? Thanks.

Well, Internet explorer seems to be running smoother and the orange light doesn't seem to be shining as much. Maybe it was nothing...

Re: Orange light on and internet explorer slow.

Ok, it happened again. Is there anything I do to try to fix this? I tried to reset my Internet explorer settings, but it didn't help. After I had logged off, there was an entry in Norton's security history that said "High Disk Read, Disk Write usage by: Microsoft Windows search Indexer." Now it appears to be working fine again. Is any of this something to be concerned about? Sorry for the multiple posts.

Hi,
Indesing and full scans will keep the disk activity light glowing for a period of time. Some other tasks can do the same thing. They do occur from time to time and about the best solution is a coffee break. They need to g\be done and if you interrupt them they will just pick up where they left off and continue to work until their task in complete.

Stay well and surf safe
