'No Live Updates For Over 1 Hour

No pulse updates, and a manual run of Live Update produced no new definitions in over 1 hour.  The last virus definitilons were installed at 9:36:44, over 70 minutes ago.

  

Is anybody else experiencing this issue besides me?

If you have been getting updates recently and now they have stopped it may be that there are no updates being issued at present another possibility is that the server has a problem and will be back online a little later, so wait a few hours and try then.

My last LiveUpdate was 15 minutes ago, complete with Norton Virus Definitions X64.

I ran update and it installed an update but " last update" still reads " 1 hour ago". It seems like it is stuck on " one hour ago".

Does anyone else have this issue?

Mine has been for over 5 hours and when I did finally go on the internetI got error message 3048.3 and had to downloadd manual update....I ran it and it did a critical update but still says it's been 5 hours since last update

I've still not received any updates....running manual  update produced nothing, so I'm sitting on over 4 hours without any new definitions.

Yes, just did a full restart, ran manual Live Updaate, and still no new definitions.  The last virus definitions were installed at 9:36:44, over 5 hours and 14 minutes ago.

My last definitions update was at 9:48 this morning.  It's now almost 7 hours later.  This is at least the 3rd time in the last few weeks where such a long time has passed between definition updates.  Is this the new norm or is there a server problem at Symantec?  Either way, I think the situation should be acknowledged by Symantec.

I had this problem several days ago when seamlessly running the last version prior to 21.0.1.3. Support had me update to 21.0.1.3 even though I kept asking if the pulse or update servers were down. I reluctantly uninstalled NIS and installed the latest version, rebooted, etc.

It solved the update problem for a couple of days but this updated version has many other issues: the links are stubborn and won't work until after numerous attempts.

When I ran LiveUpdate this morning it failed. Yes, I rebooted. Since then, I have manually run LifeUpdate numerous times and it has only downloaded and installed two updates. However, the screen still shows the last update as 7 hours ago and continues to climb.

I'm running XP SP3.

Thanks for confirming that this lengthy gap in updated virus definitions is not just happening to me, and appears instead to be a system/product-wide issue affecting many other customers.  Hopefully Symantec will ID this problem and get it corrected soon!

I have a W8 64-bit laptop and a W7, SP1 64-bit desktop, both running NIS 2013 (20.4.0.40) with the same key code.

The W8 64-bit laptop's LiveUpdate seems to be working okay...BUT, the W7, SP1 64-bit desktop says more than 7 hours since the last LiveUpdate.

Why is LiveUpdate working okay on the W8...and not working okay on the W7, SP1 -? (Manual LiveUpdates on the W7, SP1 will download and install the lastest updates when they are available, but the GUI still says more than 7 hours ago!)

My Live Update says 8 hours now, but I am getting Live Updates. When I look at the history for Live updates for today (the 25th) I see I have had 21 Live Updates and all were automatic except 2 that I did to see if it was working?

I have: Windows Vista Home Premium and IE9. Usually I see the Live Updates changing every few miutes.

I think the notification of checking for Live Updates must not be working, since I'm getting the updates.

Same over here running NIS 2014. This happens every now and then when the LiveUpdate servers have got a glitch. Don't worry, folks :-) The Symantec peeps will fix it up soon enough. Good night from Switzerland! :-))

Over 9 hours now and counting...this is the longest I can recall in which Symantec has not provided virus definition  updates via Live Update.

I used the Norton Removal Tool, then restarted the computer, then re-installed NIS.  It did install all updates for the past 16 hours, BUT no pulse updates after that.  This is a technical problem on Norton.com

Dubble__D, thank you for initially posting this problem. I had checked this forum before I called support and should have just posted the problem when this issue first started.

The support tech insisted I was the only person who had called. The point I couldn't get over to him was that it was possible that I was the "first" person who had called.

I've used Norton since 2003 and know from experience that software issues are addressed here, not from calling support.

Thank you, Norton, for addressing the issue. So far, so good, on updates.

That is typical for most tech support contacts.  I've learned that its a good idea to check here first before contacting tech support, as it could save you a great deal of time and stress to learn that others besides yourself are experiencing the very same problem.
