High Disk Read usage by: Norton 360

Hello. I noticed on security history earlier today that there was a entry that said "High Disk Read usage by: Norton 360" with a disk read activity of 22,672 MB. On the left side, under activity, it said "Actions performed: 22". It this behavior unusual or something to be concerned about? Thanks.

Hi,
If you do not see any problems after that happened I would suspect that a couple of things were happening. When a pulse update is downloaded with new threat information the program goes into an automatic quick scan mode. If you are trying to do something at the same time you may come close to engaging all of your resources. The situation is usually of short duration and happens to keep your system as protected as possible.

If you feel the need for a bit of insurance you can always run a scan with one of the free versions of a couple of the often recommended programs you read about in these forums. I try to run a 'second opinion' scan at least weekly.

Keep us posted

Re: High Disk Read usage by: Norton 360

Well, I checked again today and it happened again. Only this time, it said high disk read and disk usage by Norton 360. I checked out Norton Autofix and it said there was a patch available to fix certain parts of 360. It appeared that "Installation" and "Liveupdate" were affected. Anyway, I had to restart it for it to work, so I did. I checked on it again and it seemed ok. Autofix had to a piece of "Installation" once I checked it again, but it seems to be fine now. Could any of this be connected? Is there anything I should do? Thanks.
