14 Minute Boot Up time + Constant Lagg = =(

Hi everyone,

I am fairly good with computers so feel free to offer any suggestions you may have, that being said, you might need to explain some things :smileywink:

So recently, my desktop computer has been horribly slow. Infact, it's worse the horrible, it is unuseable.

Apart from the 14 minute boot up time and constant lagging (CPU, not internet) forcing me to restart, everything is fine. :smileywink:

So basically, I am here to ask for help cause I am at my wits end with this computer. - The reason I posted on the Norton forums is that I own several norton products and am unsure whether these could be causing the slow boot ups and lag.

I do not (AFAIK) have a virus or trojan as I have scanned not only with NIS, but also Malware Bytes and nothing came up. I recently defragged my hard drive, as well as deleting 15GB of old files and music. I now have 63.2/111GB free.

Current products include:

Norton Internet Security 2010

Norton Ghost 10.0

Norton SystemWorks

I am unsure whether removing Norton Systemworks would help out. I have not used the programme in years, as NIS is my protection. If I removed Systemworks, would it do anything to NIS2010? The reason I want to remove it is I know having multple antivirus softwares slows down your computer heaps.

My System:

Windows XP Professional SP3

Intel(r) Pentium(r) 4 CPU 2.8GHz

1 GB RAM

111GB Hard Drive (63.2GB Free)

So yeah, feel free to offer any and all suggestions, I just really want this computer back to normal.

Thank you very much in advance.
