Hello,
I ordered a security Camera. It can send live images via Wi-Fi to my PC's and over the 'Net. However, before I installed the 2 setup.EXE files which came on an 8cm mini-CD, I ran the Virustotal scan. Virustotal is a subsidiary of Google. Virustotal works by combining 47 different virus scanning programs, including Symantec/Norton's. You upload the file and Virustotal runs the scans. Out of the 47 virus scanners, ONE (1) came up positive. The eSafe scanner shows both files below as infected by the Win32.APPLAgent.Wf virus. Here are my NIS 2013 v20.4.0.40 "File Insight" and the Virustotal results for both files:
D:\CameraLive\Setup.EXE

D:\CameraSetup\Setup.EXE

I eMailed SafeNet. Here is their response:
..."We have received your email regarding the detection of the application as Suspicious. I assume the said files were submitted by you to the VirusTotal web site and not reported as infected by an Aladdin eSafe customer using any commercial eSafe application.
...I would like to point out that the engine in Virus Total site is a special version of eSafe engine (not the commercial product) and is used to test if files are malicious or simply suspicious. The engine in the Virus Total site is set on high security settings and might indeed, in rather rare cases, mark a file as suspicious although it is not. Detecting the file as "Suspicious" indicates that our heuristic detects some irregular operations that in some cases can indicate that there is a malicious activity but it does not categorize it as malicious."
Here is an image of the 8cm mini-CD which came with my security camera. I have submitted both files via Symantec's upload webpage, Upload a suspected infected file (Retail). Today I received a tracking number from Symantec: 30261457. Symantec's NIS 2013 doesn't always identify trojans. Here is an example where NIS 2013 misses but 4 other scanners identify a trojan.
I need these 2 files to install my camera. Because the camera uses Wi-Fi and can be accessed via the 'Net, this could be why eSafe believes the 2 files are infected. I have LiveUpdated my NIS 2013 v20.4.0.40 and scanned these 2 setup.EXE files many times. The scan results are always "No Threats Found." Should I go ahead and install the 2 files? What should I do?
