360 2014 Convert to Online Vault message

I just renewed, and upgraded to new 2014 version. I still use the local vault left over from previous versions, but every time I log in, I get this annoying message urging me to convert now from local to online vault, and it forces me to choose one or the other each time. I worked with a Norton tech online for about 40 minutes trying to make this go away, but she had no luck, and it seems this was the first she was aware of this new message window. She finally said that she suspects Norton is trying hard to force users to convert to online only, and this message / extra step can't be switched off. It's annoying enough to have to wait for the little vault animation to complete, but then to have to make another selection choice to 'not convert to online' is ridiculous every time. Is anyone experienceing this same behavior, or aware of any way to make this step of convinving me to switch go away every time I log in to my vault (locally)?

It has been noticed and Symantec have informed us that this will be fixed when the next update is released. That's going from 21.0 to 21.1 for example.  No idea of a time frame though.

Thanks for the information,Krusty!

Long time Symantec noticed this would be fixed, no fix till now (despite the number of updates released - several).

This is REALLY ANNOYING, as being an absurd pop-up, just the kind we use security products to avoid.

Won't Symantec relief us from this bug?

It's hard being abused by the ones you pay to avoid abusers.

I've been led to believe that the latest update to 21.1.x.x has  addressed this issue. Although not listed in the fixes.

As noted in Tony's post here http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Product-Update-21-1-of-Norton-360/m-p/1034149#U1034149  this update is being phased in. Depending on your location and language version, it may take a few more days to get it.

Once you do receive it, there may be a few more times you need to log into ID safe before a check box for Do not Ask Again should appear.

These are good news.

I hope this fix gets to the PT-BR version soon, reliefing us from this annoying bug.

From the community's feedbacks I (and lots of us) also hope Norton Product Managers start giving us the option to use the ONLINE or the LOCAL vault, in a fresh install... let's see if we further receive this gift :-).

Thanks for the feedback!

On a recent update to Norton IS, I got the same issue - having to choose the local Vault setting every time I opened up.  I persisted but later wished I hadn't, when I swapped to Norton 360 Premier to accommodate an Android device.

In making the change, I loaded N360 over NIS (saving settings, but not backing up the Vault) but it went awry.  In getting it fixed, I had to reset the Vault, losing all my logins.  The moral (apart from backing up important stuff) - if I'd used the Cloud, this wouldn't have been a problem.  As it happens, I did have a shorter list of logins on my laptop, which, when sent to the Cloud, saved a lot of work.

Just thought I'd mention it.

Agree - Export before doing anything with ID safe data (log-ins) that's why peterweb's signature is:

Things happen. Export/Backup your Identity Safe data.

Even if you do relent and go with the Cloud, Export prior to making the change.

Also FWIW, you can not sucessfully load N 360 over the top of NIS.  It is recommended that you uninstall NIS, run the NRT and then install N 360.
