inability to upgrade to XP SP3

I know it's small consolation, but lots of people who don't have Norton products on their systems have had problems getting SP3 to work. SP3 has been roundly panned in many computer magazines and blogs.

Then, to add insult to injury, it isn't even necessary to "upgrade" to it. Particularly if you're a home user.

I backed up my system, installed SP3 out of curiosity, and everything works fine with 360 v2.

I guess I'm lucky. I've never had major software problems with any computer I've owned. Well, that excludes Windows 3.1. :smileyhappy:

For the zombie process issue, see the following link

Matt

I purchased 360 some years ago and had endless problems - especially with backing up files on XP. However, since using Version 2.0 the whole thing appears to be running effortlessly and despite my mates adverse opinions about the software, it now works perfectly for me. Iā€™m pretty much a moaner at heart but well done Norton Symantec with the new version! Sorry folks.

I purchased Norton 360 eleven months ago and have had nothing but problem after problem with it.  I just received my renewal notice, and long ago decided that the last thing I would do was to use it beyond its expiration.  I've had repeated issues with automatic updates, Red X's, storage capacity, error messages, being unprotected, slowing down my system, having to remove and reinstall the program, having to download the Beta version, you name it.  I have spent untold hour upon hour upon hour dealing with trying to find solutions.  The frustration and time spent dealing w/problems is just not worth it.  I will be purchasing a well-known and highly-rated competitor's product for half the price.  Anyone else feel the way I do?

Yes, I feel the same way. Hanging (zombie) processes, inability to upgrade to XP SP3 (wake up Symantec, it's not like you didn't know it was coming, or are you really that stupid?)

Symantec used to be a pretty decent product, but after NIS 2006, and now the 360 V2 "upgrade" from NIS 2008, I'm done with the garbage they are peddling.

Personally, I'm going to ask for a chargeback from my credit card company, since I've had to uninstall it on every machine I installed it on just to make them usable. Probably won't get the chargeback, but at least I'm going to try!
