360 Premier crashes computer

Hi, 

I have been using Norton 360 Premier for a while now and it has consistently had the same problem. It crashes my computer, forcing me to do a system restore. But, it does not do it right away. I download the program and it updates and runs fine for about 3 to 4 days. Then I get an error message that it failed to apply a patch and that it needs to restart the computer in order to do that. If I let it, it restarts and everything seems fine for a bit then I get the blue screen of death and need to restart. It continues to do that until I restore the system. 

This has been going on for a while. I just have not had the time to try to troubleshoot it yet. 

A few things about my system: Windows 7. Older laptop, maybe 5 years. No other security programs installed. Worked fine before the recent (several months now) update that changed the Norton desktop icon. 

Any suggestions are welcome as system restores are annoying.
