I had Norton 360 and installed 360 version 2. Now when I click on my AOL icon I can't get AOL to come up anymore. I try shutting off different things but nothing is working. I then reload the original Norton 360 and I can get onto AOL now by clicking on my icon. What do I need to do so I can reload version 2 and still be able to click on my AOL icon to get me to my AOL.
Thanks!
AOL icon. When I what to use AOL my desktop has a AOL icon on it. I would double click on that and then it would allow me to sign on AOL then it would get me to my AOL. When I put in version 2 and click on this icon it wouldn't allow me to sign on. It wouldn't do anyrthing. Now I could click on internet exploer and I could get that. So I re-installed the original Norton 360 without the version 2 and I now can sign in on my AOL. Hope this helps.
Thanks!
AOL may be blocked from accessing the internet by Norton.
Settings>Firewall>Program Control
Click the drop down box by AOL and select Allow.
Sadly to say I have the same problem.
I have all the settings in the firewall set to auto and one allow. There are 4 all together.
I had 360 1.0 before and every thing went well installed the update to 2.0 and this is when I started to have problems.
When I reboot the PC no problem to sign in. After I sign out then I can't sign back in.
Thank's in advance in helping me out on that.
Settings>Firewall Protection>Intrusion Prevention
Untick any AOL related services. I see 3 right off the bat.
I tried every thing I could think of.
First I permit all of the AOL files as shown:
waol.exe
aoltpspd.exe
aoldial.exe
aolsoftware.exe
Then I read your post and I unticked all of does. Can't understand why this would have any thing to do with this though.
aol: im away msg bo
aol: im externa app request bo
aol: im game request bo
What has changed from 360 1.0 to 360 2.0 ?
I have Norton / Symantec for 10 years and never experienced this kind of problem.
When I turn my PC on in the morning, I can sign on to AOL with out any problems, but when I sign out, then I can't sign back in. The only way I can sign in is, if I reboot. And I honestly don't want to do this.
Went to several message boards and I am not the only one with this problem lots of peoples having the same issue.
Hopefully some body can help with this,
Thank you kindly for your affords.
Hello Nanaha,
Could you try the following to see if this fixes your problem:
Start a command shell
Select Start menu / Run... / type "cmd" without the quotes
Next you will change directories to
type cd "\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Backup" with the quotes
Then you will unregister the dll
type regsvr32 /u buShell.dll
a dialog should be shown with the following text : "DllUnregisterServer in buShell.dll succeeded."
Once these steps have been completed you will no longer see the "icon overlays" for backup. Please retry your problems and report what happens back here.
Thanks,
Matt
Hi Matt,
Thank you, thank you.
So far it worked. I did sign in to AOL about 3 times and no problem (crossing my fingers). I be honest it has been a week of h....
trying to figure out what went wrong. If something should change then I will post again.
Thank's,
Bye the way I have XP sp3 and IE7.
Hi Rukkus
Just to be clear can you explain exactly what you mean by your 'AOL' icon. Thanks
