360 v2 backup filenames are wierd

This is the way how Norton 360 backs up files. If you want to restore a specific file, go to “Backup” from Norton 360’s main screen, then from the drop-down menu use “Restore Files”, when Restore Now window appears, click the Search button to find files you want to restore.

That is totally messed up. Why did they mess up what was perfect in 1.0? This is as bad as the screwups in Microsoft one care in version 2.0. Why do they have to take things that are NOT broke and break them and not put in and fix stuff that is?

So now, I have to go find yet another software package I like and dump this one. This one was perfect in the way they backed up files in 1.0. I dumped One Care 2.0 because of the stupidity and now I have to dump this software because they messed up perfect options.

I really don’t understand. It’s easy to recover files, just a few clicks and you are done. Why do you insist to see the file’s content without recovering it ? How it was with N360 v1? I’ve never used v1 backup.

Well, here is a thought:

If the names are the same and a virus or other malicious program is looking at files and finds the name it is looking for and deletes it or something, your backup would be gone too.  Probably not what you want to happen.  It is quite easy to delete files by name under program control, and being marked as 'read only' really doesn't matter.  By using something cryptic, it would probably leave it alone since it "doesn't match" what the malicious program is looking for.

Just a thought.

I insist on seeing the filenames because it's easy to share files across my network off of my backup when I can see the folder names and filenames as they appear on the main system and not some cryptic BS. They need an option to allow filenames and folders to match or use cryptic method.

Either I will now need to find another program because these companies insist on fixing things that are not broke with NO regard for the user at all and offer options for things like this, or go back to v1 and loose what I paid for the upgrade.
