The error msg is a bit misguiding, it says I have no network connection (I have it, I couldn't be writing here and I could not have bought and downloaded the product otherwise :) ) Anyway, on looking at the window when it tries to connect I brieflly see a 403 - forbidden msg.

No firewall (I disabled it to make sure that wasn't the problem, but it did not help).
Working from: Vista Home Basic SP1
Probably it's no big deal, but I'd rather register the product. Any hint?
One thing worth adding: this machine accesses the internet through a router, so it only has a 192.168.xx.xx address. Hope that is not a problem. Everything else works just fine and the “my network” tool works perfectly.
none that I'm aware of. The native vista firewall reports being off. There was a previous free 90-day norton install, that has been uninstalled by N360. Everything else appears to be 100% okay.
My browser is Firefox, I have a regular Norton bar on it, ID management and phishing filter are working ok.
sometimes it does make a difference for software, so I will specify that this is the russian edition of Vista, but I’m running the English version of Norton on it.
Registering your product stores your product key online and grants you free access to 2gb of online backup storage. Note that only Norton can utilize that space.
If you do not register, be sure to hang on to your product key, if you ever decide to reformat your comptuer. And, if you are going to use Backup, make sure you have an external drive or disc/disk of some kind.
Now, if you still want to register, please the security settings for Internet in Internet Explorer to the lowest. Then, try registration. It could be that your security settings were too strict.
