My 5 device licence key is coming to an end, my question is, can I activate a 10 device licence on the same machines without having to reinstall Norton in order to get backup option as I don't need the backup anyway?

Yes, you can activate a 5 license installation (De Luxe) with a 10 license (Premium) key.
Because you do not install the software again, you will miss the Backup function in the software, which is a standard part of the Premium software. But I reckon you did not use it because of your old De Luxe software.
For the Backup function you need to install the 10 license software (Premium) from your Norton account, after activation.
