8504, 100 Error.....again

One Caveat: I installed Comcast Constant Guard, installed NIS from Constant Guard and then removed Constant Guard.  That was the process I was instructed to follow in order to get NIS through Comcast but not use their CG service.

 

Anytime I click the taskbar icon to open Norton Internet Security and some of the time when I start it from the Start / Programs, I get the 'dreaded' '8504, 100 Error' message.

 

I have researched this problem on the forums and it seems the only response is to uninstall NIS, run the NRT, reboot and re-install NIS.

 

This has now happened a total of 4 times in the past 7-8 weeks.  Frankly, I'm just about ready to revert to my Norton 360, 3 user version and just forget the whole deal.

 

Please note that I am not a computer neophyte.  I've been involved with the computer industry for well over 30 years and, locally, most people think I'm a computer expert even though I tell them that there are no 'computer experts'.   Let's just say I'm proficient at computers.  What I really am is at the end of my rope and tired of putting more time into this problem.

 

If anyone has encountered this problem and found a resolution other than just removing and reinstalling, I would appreciate some 'fresh' ideas.
