A concern or not?

Apparently, a Safe Web reviewer referenced as “zainab_christ” https://safeweb.norton.com/profile/zainab_christ has taken the time to “review” 72 domains in three [3] days primarily concerning lurid pornographic material.  Granted, some technological items were mentioned i.e. if a site contained adware etc., however, the problem lies with the fact that the person has been catapulted (if you will) to Safe Web’s “Community Buzz” page under “active users” https://safeweb.norton.com/buzz.  If the “Community Buzz” page is inaccessible for whatever reason, please see the screenshot I have attached as PDF to see what I am referencing (enlarge view if necessary).  I feel, like in my review of mywot.com, https://safeweb.norton.com/reviews/195209 this is where the cure becomes part of the disease.  I don’t mind “Mr. Zainab” reviewing these sites, but, Norton Safe Web should be more intuitive to perceive that the person has reviewed (en masse) sites that may offend and take necessary steps to shield the rest of the community users.  The last thing we need is the children who frequent Safe Web to be alerted to these seventy-two [72] ignominious addresses prominently positioned as I guarantee you that they are NOT thinking of the technological ramifications of visiting such places.  I don’t know, maybe I’m over-thinking this and crossing into over-censorship, but something about this just doesn’t sit right with me (so to speak).  As far as I’m concerned, I saw something questionable, reported it, - - I now wash my hands of it.  I will let the Gurus/Symantec Employees hash it out if they desire to do something about this or not.  At the very least, “Mr. Zainab” should be removed off of the “Community Buzz” Homepage.  Some may argue parental responsibility in all of this.  I say that is not full-proof and Norton should ascribe to a higher moral ground.

Signing off,

H.B.

Please, please my friends (the few that I have) call me H.B.  About the name, although I claim no copyright, there are perks working for a fire-breathing dragon.  Home heating costs?  Ha.  Why would that factor in working over a lava pit?  Welcome, “Christian_Gamer” aka “Videogame Master” to my realm of hammers.  I was expecting Hugh or even the “SendOfJive” but they send you (cue psychotic laughter).  This is deliciously interesting.  Come, come.  Why are you still standing in the archway?  Come in, I have some polished up hammers just for you.  I must ask, “Christian” gamer….  Is your name Christian or, is there some sort of religious connotation?  Because, I’m pretty sure the Devil has a monopoly on the videogame industry right now ha, ha, ha.  If the latter, I will tell you right up front, I am by no means overly religious getting caught up with stodgy rituals.  Organised “religion” has disappointed so many, I believe we are at a point where each spirit has to be judged individually.  A Deacon you say?  Bishops, deacons, and evangelists oh my!  It’s like in Boston’s Peace of Mind, “Everybody’s got advice they just keep on giving, doesn’t mean too much to me….” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGRrOEbY3pI  However, if you truly are an adherent of A. 16:31, I APPLAUD you.

About “Mr. Zainab” and notions of altruism-  That argument somewhat went “out the window” (so to speak) when I saw that he issued a five [5] bar rating for the domain evidenced here: http://safeweb.norton.com/reviews/196049.  Norton rating lewd sites “green”-  Oftentimes, technologically, they are wrong as well.  You explain, “It is not up to Norton to be the parent….”  Interesting.  I myself have said (on numerous occasion) that Safe Web primarily exists for the technological.  However, turbidity seeps in with their one [1] and two [2] out of five [5].  Notice, (may or will harm you) clause.  This leaves open the door (if you will) for some degree of morality.  “You”, as in your property i.e. computer, but, a “You” in a sense of your state of well-being mentally perhaps?  If we hold the aforementioned premise to some stability, then it behooves Norton Safe Web to remove “Mr. Zainab” off of the Homepage.  I craft the discussion in consideration of Safe Web users as exhibited here: http://safeweb.norton.com/reviews/136587  Having worked in the “library” in a past life, you would be utterly astounded at how many “parents” leave their child unattended on public computers with no filters.  Overall, this discussion makes me laugh.  It is a classic First Amendment.  Depending upon your “persuasion”, you will look at it one [1] of two [2] ways.  Government shall not respect an establishment of religion, or, Government shall not prevent the free exercise thereof.

Technically, the parents shouldn’t have to get their hands too dirty with items in the vein of Norton’s Add-on pack.  Yes, I’m glad you mention convicted felon status.  Frankly, this did not originate from me.  A reviewer named “Janice” posted on my review of WOT that “g7w” was a felon.  I’m not sure if she ever fully substantiated that - - I did not confirm whether “g7w” was a felon or not.  By the by, thanks for telling me about Ford and Goodyear.  I will now organise a massive protest.  Nah, actually, I just purchased some Goodyear tires, lol.  3.7 eh?  Jolly good show.  Or, is it folly good show?  Hope your educational pathe(s) works out better than mine did.  I have explained this before, what passes for “education” these days?  Is it just the worthless ramblings of unwashed heathenous men?  Anyhow, I have often contemplated the “barriers” those convicted face whilst seeking employment.  I consider myself a “person” who has played by the so-called “rules” yet still cannot find employment - - and have not committed any crime!!!  You mention “third chance”.  Depends upon the crime.  Let me say this, I will be hard-pressed to give a sexsual offender three [3] tries with all due respect.

I hear from many “computer technicians” that the requirements change so often, that they were fed up with it and stopped at the level they were at.  I believe I heard a news report detailing former “hackers” “converting” to the “good” side.  You know why this was, right?  The traditional “techies” weren’t cutting it.  They needed unconventional thinking from the outside.

Then H.B. it is if you prefer that.  You made alot of points in your own unique way.  No one sent me to reply to your original post here.  You make a point I agree with about not having a heating bill because of living over a lake of lava.  No, my name is not Christian, but yes, it is due to religious status.  I am a True Chrisian, or otherwise known as a Fundamentalist Christian.  Basically, I follow what the Holy Bible says to the best of my ability/knowledge, but I also know that I am not someone to judge someone else because they believe different, or do things in a different way because we are unique in the eyes of God.  The Gamer part of my username on here is because I play videogames.

I realize it is tough with the way the economy is now about getting a job without a felony conviction, and it is even tougher with one.  Sometimes a person has to create their own business to get a start in life.  It seems more, and more that companies require a degree, or certificate in something to be able to get hired.  It used to be that a person could just go to a job, and be hired on the spot after a few skills tests to see if you were able to do the work.

I like how you mentioned that some hackers are turning good.  In a way this is like me.  I say this because by the technical definition of what a hacker is, then I am a hacker.  A hacker is someone that has intimate knowledge about how a computer system works, and how to gain access to said computer system to be able to diagnose/repair problems that may arise.  However, sadly the term hacker is commonly used for someone that uses a computer system with malicious intent of gaining unauthorized access to another system to steal credit information, identities, and/or just destroy someone's computer system just to do it.  I know alot about computer systems now, but I have tons to keep learning, which I am currently going to college for in the area of CIT.  I am already a licensed CRT, but that is not enough.

I want to get into the field of cybersecurity to be able to help people keep their information online safe from malicious users, and I also want to get into something with videogames like designing them, testing them, or even providing security for online games to stop cheaters that use hacks to win.  I got finals this week, and next week to end my fall semester for this year, and a certification exam.  If I pass that certification exam I will be certified in CompTIA Network+.  My Academic Advisor has informed me that if I am able to pass everything I will have several certifications along with a degree for CIT.  This is what I am working on for now.  I mean who knows if I could be the next designer of the ultimate gaming system, or be the person that stops the hacking group called Anonymous from being able to gain access to computer systems for malicious intentions?  Only time, and my determination/skill/knowledge will tell.

Goodie!  You came back to throw some more hammers with me.  After my last rant, I wasn’t sure if I perplexed/scared/angered you to the point where you wouldn’t want to throw hammers with me anymore.  It always ends the same.  (sob)  Many petre out and do not desire to throw hammers anymore.  I realise no one “sent” you.  As others have come to find out, about half of what I say is to be taken with a grain of salt.  Where to delineate that “half” has perplexed people for centuries.  Interesting to note-  “Mr. Zainab” is no longer featured on the “Community Buzz” Homepage.  (Cue smug grin)

Fundamentalist as in FLDS?  Hmmm…. I have been hearing this bantre about “starting your own business”.  Though, in this climate of regulation, that might be a consideration down the road.  Bowser can hardly keep up with all the EPA regulations!  Funny, in interviews I have had, they did not care one iota about the “prestigious” Universities I attended, all they wanted to know was, “What is your hands-on work experience….”

The conception of “that is not enough”-  Are you characterised by relentlessness?  In this journey we call life, when is it ever “enough”?

From years of reading NP, Full Sail University looks like a solid choice for videogame development.  Please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_Sail_University for more information.  Although I’m soured on education, I will keep hammers crossed that you preform swimmingly on all your examinations.  Interesting.  I have often conceptualised what the next “gen” (if you will) v.g.s. should be.  “Anonymous”, I’m trying to think if I saw a report on that.  Thinking…. thinking…. thinking….

By the way, your prose is excellent.  Do you review for Safe Web?  Since the EXODUS of some of our best reviewers…. I’m looking at you Elena Hughes…. AT YOU!!!  Ahem, please forgive that violent outburst, would you happen to be up for the task (so to speak)?

It is such a shame that Mr. Zainab has been removed.  Well it is such a shame for him, lol.  No, Fundamentalist as in someone that tries to follow the Bible to the best of their abilities/knowledge.  The church I go to is a non-denominational church called Faith Assembly.  They teach stuff right out of the Bible, and not some man-made doctrine of something like you need to wear this in order to attend church here like the Pentacostals do alot.  At my church we welcome everyone to attend, and it doesn't matter what you wear, or what you believe, or what kind of past you have because we accept people as they are.

I know how employment was about wanting to know what kid of experience you have used to be the way it was, but that has changed recently.  Now it seems like people want the person with a degree, and there are even some gas stations that require a person to have at least a High School Diploma, or a GED.  All because the gas station went high-tech so to speak by having automatic paying at the pump with credit/debit/gas cards.  There are so many employers now that require a clean background in order to work for them now.  What happened to getting a tax deduction for hiring convicted felons?  I guess that was done.

The hacking group Anonymous used to be known as LolzSec, Black Hat, or BlackSec.  They play online videogames alot because these sites are hardly ever monitored, and they brag about what they have hacked into all the time on those sites, and I started checking on some of their claims to find they were true.  They were all over Twitter at one point using a shortened version of Anonymous called Anon.  This was followed by their username like AnonSabu.  That was the Anonymous member that got arrested last year by the FBI.  He cut a deal with them to help them find other members of Anonymous in exchange for complete immunity from prosecution.  The FBI jumped on this, and had his charges dismissed.  He spent several months letting the FBI trace down every Anonymous user he contacted.  The FBI got a bunch of warrants to go arrest these other members, and in every case the places they went into there was no one there except a computer that was setup by Sabu to make it look like there was actual people at these locations.  It was all a ruse by Anonymous to keep the FBI busy while they started organizing the Occupy movements that started as Occupy Wall Street, and spread across the country.  They also got the people in Egypt, and in Syria the ability to connect to people outside of those countries so the world could know what was really going on in those places.

There is a hacker who calls himself ZMaim that has openly challenged Anonymous claiming they are just pink fluffy bunnies, and in the eyes of Anonymous that is the lowest form of insult a person can call a hacker.  They have swore vendettas against all who would dare to challenge them, but so far this has been hot air so to speak.  It is believed that there are 12 members of Anonymous that call the shots, but there hasn't been any digital proof of this, yet.

About Anon-  Very interesting.

I should have been clearer about the interviews I went on (where they only cared really about work exp) that was in 2011 and 2012.

You live in a different area than I do because around where I live at it is more about having a degree than work experience.  It makes no sense to do things that way because there is only a small part of the population here that has degrees.  There a couple of places that has a way to keep full employment without having to pay taxes because of a law that Obama passed during his first term.  A company from another country can bring their own people here to the U.S. to work, and they are not taxed for 3 years until they become U.S. citizens.  These two companies are based in Japan, and every 2 years, and 6 months they rotate their employees out so they can stay tax free while being over here.  They will hire U.S. citizens, but they always fire them before their 90 days ends to become full-time employees.  People around here are so desperate for work they don't care if they never get benefits, or get past minimum wage because of this.  They are also the only 2 companies that will hire felons around here.

If they are on an H1B Visa which is one widely used to bring in skilled employees

Tax status of H-1B workers

The taxation of income for H-1B employees depends on whether they are categorized for tax purposes as either non-resident aliens or resident aliens. A non-resident alien for tax purposes is only taxed on income from the United States, while a resident alien for tax purposes is taxed on income from both inside and outside the United States.

Or from another source --

Tax Tips for H1-B Employees

<< As a starting point, we assume you earned income in 2001 from either a US employer or

from services performed in the US on behalf of a foreign employer. Under US tax rules,

there is no distinction between the two – both types of income are subject to tax in the US.

The only exception is if you earned less than $3,000 and this amount was paid directly by a

foreign employer for services rendered in the US, and that employer doesn't maintain a US

presence, and your stay in the US was less than 90 days. In this case, the amount earned is

not considered US-source income and is therefore not subject to US tax. If all 3 conditions

are not met, then the entire amount received is considered US-source income. >>

L1 VISA employees are also subject to US Income Tax ....

So I rather think what you say is Urban Myth unless you can give chapter and verse.

Hugh,

Good of you to join the conversation.  I was wondering how you were.  :smileysurprised:

Videogame Master,

Are you alluding to a “back-door” amnesty argument?  I definitely see this pattern of behaviour (at least in my region) to suppress full-time status due to the uncertainty of the economy.

All in all, my main issue of “Mr. Zainab” being removed off of at least the “Community Buzz” Homepage has occurred, therefore, if a Symantec Employee/Guru (in this case Hugh) would like to lock this thread, feel free to do so.  Conversely, if you gentlemen would like to continue talking about other issues, that is fine with me as well.  I’m uncertain as to who will receive credit for the solution, however.

Gurus do not have that power ....

Hi Hugh,

Okay.  Yeah, I knew the Gurus were infused with some new power some time back, however, I guess that was to change solution status not "lock" threads?

Thank you for the clarification,

H.B.

Here is a new conspiracy idea to think about.  Maybe the Gurus are really the 12 Patriots claiming not to have any power when they can do something devious like teleport a nuke into your toilet as you are indisposed.  With that idea we need to start working on some kind of Anti-Teleportation Shield to prevent teleported things from getting to a certain point.

Be afraid, be very afraid

Mr. Richard Evans, Guru,

It is a pleasure to hear from you.  How have you been?
