Detailed description: I have a new LG Smart TV, Norton says “There is an attacker on this network. A suspicious device IP xxx.xxx.x.153 an unidentified network is using ARP spoofing to collectall data sent to and from your computer”
Product & version number: Norton 360
OS details:
Norton then keeps disconnecting from the internet.
Norton is saying LG Smart TV is using ARP spoofing to collect all data sent to and from your computer?
wired or wireless?
is it possible LG Smart TV is seeing a WiFi network/connection when your wired?
is it possible LG Smart TV is seeing neighbors WiFi network?
your router WiFi connection is password protected?
you changed default password?
Suspicious of my network being attacked by an ARP Spoofer. here
@NigelD_Jones My question is not about N360 but your network configuration in your router. By chance do you use VLAN or have your IOT devices (e.g. TV) on a network separate and isolated from the other networks that your trusted devices (e.g.your computer) are on? If not, it might be good to look into isolating your IOT devices from your other networks.
Just a follow-up to Puzzler’s post. Check for duplicate packets being sent to a specific IP address or MAC address in your router logs. The ARP tables will also show duplicate entries if there is an outside imposter. If nothing is there reboot your router and make sure you are NOT using the factory defaults to log into it, or factory WiFi SSID NAMES and passwords.
