Hello,
I used norton ghost 15 to backup windows 7 x64. I did a fresh install and backed it up, then used ghost to restore it. It worked. I continued to install software and make new backups as I went. After installation of a CAD program and backup, I found that I was no longer able to boot into the OS- windows 7 would immediately go to the startup repair program. The windows startup repair wasn't able to fix the problem.
"No problem!" I thought, since I used ghost to make 6 backups at various stages of installation. However, each time I tried an image, it did the same thing. Even the first image I made, which had worked previously, didn't work. It seems to me that Ghost is no longer completely imaging/overwriting the key portions of the disk, as clearly something broken in the boot sector or somewhere else is not being overwritten.
Has anyone experienced this? Is this fixed in SP1? I assume I'd have to buy another CD since the SP1 doesn't fix the boot CD...?
Note that Norton Ghost automatically checks the Reserved System Partition for backups (its grayed out so you can't uncheck it) so YES I am backing that up.
Thanks,
Mike
