A pop-up appeared which appeared to be a phishing scam disguised as Norton.

The suspicious thing about this pop-up is that

  1. even though the PC is running Windows 11, it says: “Your Norton is not compatible with Windows 10. Click [Next] to download a new version and stay protected.” The message is displayed as.
  2. started appearing immediately after the Norton chat support representative had the latest version set up by RDP.
    I see this as an attempt by someone disguised as Norton to get me to download malware on a computer that has just been updated with Norton.

This shows up for me too everytime I reboot my machine. I’ve been running Windows 11 for nearly a year now and I’ve never had a Norton (or any other representative from anywhere) logged into my computer remotely. I don’t allow that.

So it’s probably an actual issue with Norton, but who knows what it could be.
