A Possibily Suspicious "Epson E-Print" Update Message

I'm using Windows 7, FireFox 25 and current NIS.

I just purchased and installed an Epson XP-410 printer. The second time I used it, a pop-up menu came up that suggested updates were available. I cannot recall all that the popup said, but do remember there were three new updates that I could check to add, one of which was called "Epson E-Web Print". I checked all three and they installed.  Since I was accustomed to HP printer updates via my internet connection, I wasn't suspicious of the so-called Epson update.

When I opened my browser I found a toolbar with the Epson logo and the "E-Web Print" title on it, along with a printer icon, a clip icon and a box to check if I wanted to print from flash content.  I couldn't get the tool to function, so I called Epson tech support, but the tech didn't seem to know anything about it.

I called back and asked for a supervisor. He didn't have any knowledge of "E-Web Print" and told me it was spam. He said he could find nothing on the Epson website referencing it. This blew my mind because it was downloaded via my internet connection and labeled an update with the Epson name on it. He said Epson doesn't use automatic updates; I must go to their website for updates.

Here is a link I found about this Epson utility.  It doesn't sound like it's a security threat, but it was presented as an update and seems deceptive.  http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/Epson-E-Web-Print-6938-program.aspx

And what can you tell me about "E-Web Print"?  It seems like a useful screen capture I've been looking for.  It also seems to be a utility Seiko Epson once supported.  If it passes muster here, I'm thinking about uninstalling the utility and reinstalling it from the above link.  I'd sure appreciate your take on this.
