About to my breaking point with Norton A / V

So, here I sit.. was hoping to get to bed, and can't because my BRAND NEW computer is running so slow that I cannot do ANYTHING on it..............and all this happened after I installed Norton.

I have Norton Antivirus running on my Windows 8 HP laptop. It was working fine for a few days and has recently decided to stop. And I'm no computer whizz, but every time I look at Norton.. my CPU has the "At Risk" warning, so I click the Fix Now button and immediately it fails. I say, "OK." and try to manually run a scan. That button doesn't work. I try to run a full scan and THAT doesn't work. I DID, however, try to uninstall and reinstall.. that did work, but only for a few days. And honestly, $40 that I spent on your product should be a little more user friendly and convenient than that.. I have never had problems like this with AVG or Nod32.

Unless someone can give me some insight, I will be dropping Norton promptly.
