Until a few days ago my Norton product (Internet Security with Identity Safe running on Windows 7, Service Pack 1; 64-bit OS) had been working without the slightest problem. All I had to do was to click on the icon in the taskbar and Norton would open, and so would Identity Safe if I clicked on that from within Norton Internet Security.
Then one morning, when trying to open Norton I got an error message. Unfortunately, I wasn’t clever enough to write down the error number but if I remember correctly it began with 85... and it was recommended that I
- Download a removal tool
- Uninstall Norton and afterwards …
- Download it from the website and reinstall it
I did, as advised, and at first it seemed to work. But now whenever I try to open Identity Safe I get a pop-up window not with the log-in slot for the Identity Safe but with text saying:
“Get Started. To access your vault, or to create a vault, sign into your account. You can create an account, if you don’t have one.”
Followed by a button SIGN IN.
When I click on the button I get a log-in window. However, I still cannot get in. Instead, one of two things happens:
- Either it just opens up the GET STARTED window again
- or I get an error message:
Error occurred while processing your request.
Error id: 730cd98e-4892-41cd-bba9-3ff144a606df
Obviously, this is becoming ever so slightly annoying and it would be nice to find a solution for it. I trawled through dozens of posts but nothing seems to relate to my specific problem.
Just a few points:
- I have checked and apparently I am running the latest version of Norton Internet security
- I have Windows 7 NOT 10
- When I open Norton Internet Security it says at the top of the pop-up window that I am logged in already
Any hints and tips will be gratefully received.
