Action Center reporting falsey no anti-virus/firewall

I have Windows 7 and I've had this problem before, I fixed it by reinistalling Norton IS. It was a temporary fix, and I've been wrestling with it ever since. I've tried all the fixes found on the threads here  on the same topic, even downloaded the hotfix from MS. I now believe the problem has to do with the 64 bit Windows, although I  run a 32 bit I.E. OS,  the system is labelled as 64 bit only. I don't know if there's a fix I haven't tried, or if this is an issue that is not being resolved, but I really hate to just turn off Action Center reporting feature. Although Norton is 100% protecting me, Windows doesn't seem to know it. Any help? Thanks.

There could be an issue with your Windows installation that is causing Action Center to give false information.

Click on Start and type CMD in the search box. Right click on cmd.exe and click on Run as Administrator. Type 'sfc /scannow' without the quotes. This will check your Windows installation and try to correct any errors it finds.

scannow found no issues. I just had Norton support remotely check my PC. They made some changes to services and reinstalled Norton. Didn't work, but had to leave and got a ticket # to follow up later. I've tried all this before with no luck, even re-installed windows. Today, after Norton reinstalled NIS, my computer started beeping after the restart. 3 beeps and pause three times, I have to find the beep codes for Dell Inspiron 570. I don't know what's going on. ugh

Try reinstalling any audio drivers you have.

Check event viewer to see if there are any errors listed around the time you start your PC. This could be causing a system beep.

If that does not help, check the settings for your Windows Sound alerts.

Yup, I've got everything backed up just in case and will reinstall audio tomorrow. Just hope I can figure this all out. Thanks for your help, back tomorrow with hopefully good news. I ran a live firewall and virus protection test and Norton is working despite what Action Center says, so that's comforting ;)

I still can't get Action Center to recognize Norton NS. It's driving me nuts even though Norton is in fact working just fine. I guess I'll turn Action Center off - but would PREFER for it to properly work!
