I have bought a new licenece for my expired Norton for Mac. This is a 10 device and installed no problem on my 2 Windows laptops by putting the new licence in the Help section. There appears to be no way of doing this on the Mac. I have wasted hours trying to find a way. I would prefer not to uninstall and reinstall to get it activated. I can find the old licence but no way to input the new one. I am close to ditching Norton as they keep making the renewal process more and more dificult.
Hello @StuartMC
Did you register new key with your Norton account?
Returning customer? → Sign In here → Enter A New Product Key
Note: new key starts new term
When you are using a new product key to activate, the remaining days with your current subscription do not get added to the subscription associated with the new key.
Users may contact Norton support & request new key term added to current key remaining days.
Yes all registered and functioning on Windows laptops. Activated on the day the old one expired so didn’t lose anything. I have done this easily many times in the past.
then download pre-activated installer from your Norton account.
Oh wait…you’re looking for a way to enter new key at product?
Downloaded the installer and installed over the existing one. Just says no update required. My main issue is if I uninstall it will probably store the previous licence so still won’t activate
That’s how I’ve done it previously, now there is the previous licence in there and no amount of clicking will bring up the box to enter the new licence
Yes the Windows one worked no problem it is the Mac version that has the problem
Oh…Okay…Sorry…I’m not Mac…I’ve always imagined Mac activates the same as Windows.
So, old key cannot be replaced with new key.
And your subscription status = Active?
Sorry, we’ll need Mac user to chime in.

Okay…lets review (for my benefit). Your Norton 360 for Mac subscription expired. You over-installed pre-activated installer - presumably with recently registered new key. Your Enter a Key field populates the old key and your Details reports old key and populated old key field cannot be edited. And your Subscription status reports Active with Expires on: date…that’s correct/not correct??

fwiw ~ thinking like it’s my Norton 360 for Windows machine -
I’d Sign Out & Sign In at Norton 360 Home and confirm Remote Management is enabled and run Repair Norton and restart machine.

Remove all Norton programs for Mac using the RemoveNortonMacFiles tool here
Yes, all correct. Installation on a Mac is a pain as all the security has to be allowed so not as simple as Windows which is why I’d rather not uninstall if I can avoid it. Why it shouldn’t be as easy to do as on Windows is beyond me.
Ahh…Okay.
You’re very familiar with PC & Mac + Norton.
Why is (other than all the Mac security) Norton 360 for Mac activation/re-activation such a pita.
Might the process flow been easier had Norton 360 for Mac term not expired?
Might the process flow been easier had you requested new key term added to current term remaining days?
