Activating "terminal services" with no XP professional cd

I'm having a problem installing Norton 360 on my Compaq Presario laptop with Windows XP sp3. Norton install keeps sending me to their technical support website saying I need to enable "terminal services," giving directions on how to accomplish this. I follow the directions, typing in "services.msc" in the run bar, get to it, but there is no "terminal services in the listing of programs there.

I do the XP help in the services.msc function and it tells me I have to "install" it. So I go to control panel, add/remove programs, add/remove windows components, but can't find it specifically. So, I try to install ALL the components that aren't currently installed. Only problem, it now wants me to insert a Windows XP Professional cd - which I don't have because my computer is a hand-me-down from a friend who didn't keep the cd.

And don't even get me started on trying to get actual Norton Support for this problem. They've got a stupid "bot" that couldn't understand me and ran me in circles for 3 hours. Trying to get a live person, phone number, or email address to contact Norton was impossible. I gave that up after 3 more hours.

So I go to Microsoft website to try and download "terminal services". No luck because all the downloads I could find there my computer won't install because my SP3 is newer than the downloads I could find.

Next I tried to find a downloadable copy of Windows XP Pro to put on my thumb drive and try and install terminal services from it. The problem-  every quack website I went to shunted me off to something other than Windows XP Pro I had typed into my Bing Bar (thanks Bing).

The other problem I encountered when doing this was while verifying the links to "Download Windows XP free" the URL would actually show some web address named something like "gotunowidiot." I chose not to go to websites like that.

I don't care how stupid it makes me look, I'm posting this whole post that I'm now putting on Norton's forum on my own blog to let others know how many problems I had with Norton. I used to love Norton because it offers the best protection. me.

After this experience I'll probably go to AVG's free program next time just for its ease of use. It went in seamlessly after I couldn't get my $70 Norton 360 to install. However, because I've already paid $70 for Norton 360 and Walmart won't take it back I'd like to know if anybody out there has a fix for that would help me.

Thanks for your reply. While I agree that it's not Norton's fault that 360 apparently (according to you,and  in which I agree) can't be installed on my hand-me-down computer, it shouldn't have taken me 2 days to get the correct help - 6 hours of which were spent  by me directly navigating Norton's hard to access help.

I like Norton products because I believe they offer superior protection and, up until this purchase, have never had any problems. My main gripe while trying to get an answer to my technical question is the way and manner in which I couldn't get an answer and kept getting ran around in circles.

I hope the link you sent me works to help me get my money back - now if only I can find my receipt. Again, thanks for your (direct) reply.
