Activation Key not 25 characters

I purchased online Norton 360™ Version 5.0 Subscription Renewal (1 Year Subscription)  and received an email confirmation, with [Removed]. However the Renewal Code in the email is only 19 characters long, whereas the system needs 25 characters. What should I do?

It will work, a renewal key is 19 characters long and adds the time "on top of" the current subscription.

Have you tried entering it yet?

Dave

Yes, I have tried it. The data entry window accepts the 19 characters, and formats it with dashes after every 5th character. But the "Next" icon stays greyed out and therefore nothing happens when I try to click on it. I have tried padding the activation key to 25 characters by adding a 6-digit time stamp but the box won't accept some numerics (eg "1") at this point. I have tried adding some random letters, eg "X" or "Q" (it won't accept "A" and some other alpha characters) and when I have entered 25 then the "Next" icon suddenly switches to yellow. I click on it and then get an error message "Invalid Product Key".

Hi etchman,

This might help:

How to enter the subscription key or renewal code for your Norton product

Hi SendOfJive, I have seen this page already. I followed the instructions again but when I got to "Step 3.3 - Click on Renew Subscription", the box that appeared in the window was greyed out so nothing happened when I clicked on it. However, a few seconds later a new window opened up automatically called Activation. I tried to enter the 19-character key provided to me in an email. As I said before, the Activation window accepts the 19 characters, and formats it with dashes after every 5th character. But the "Next" icon stays greyed out and therefore nothing happens when I try to click on it. (I have a screen snapshot but can't find a way of attaching it.)

Hi Floplot, No joy I'm afraid. I performed the instructions as documented but couldn't complete Step 2.5 because alongside Product Key it says "Not Purchased". (I have a screen snapshot but can't find a way of attaching it.) I don't know if this could be the cause of my problem, but I seem to have two separate versions of Norton 360, probably because I have two pcs with a trial version of Norton 360 on each.

Ah, the plot thickens.

You have to activate the trial version into a regular subscription (via the activation key [25 characters] from purchasing the product) BEFORE you can enter an RENEWAL (extension [19 characters]) key.  An extension will not activate the trial into a licensed version.  You should contact Norton Support (here) to see if they can help apply the purchase of the Renewal (extension) towards the purchase of the product.  The CHAT link is the fastest way to get help.

I'm not thickening though.....:womanwink::womantongue:
