You can chat for free with customer support who should be able to solve this problem. Please explain to them that the 3rd computer you no longer have and you have a new computer instead. Please have your key handy as they may ask for that information. The link is for US/CAN and if you need a different location, please let us know.

Hi, thanks for all replies problem has now been resolved and norton internet security 2011 on new pc, i sent an email off instead of using the chat and i had a reply this morning with full very detailed instructions on what to do, a credit to norton support very efficient,
Thanks for the chat link have bookmarked it just incase
No i did not remove the norton from old machine as it packed up completely and my techy guy advised that it would be cheaper to buy a new one than get it fixed, due to the warranty i had left on it, so that is what we did
Glad you got it all fixed and that email worked for you quickly.
My question about removing was a leading question and a computer not working is a suitable alternative answer <g> It wasn't clear that you had not just passed it on to someone else .....
I'm glad you got it resolved without too much of a hassle. Would you mind clicking on the post which gave you the solution so that we may know that this thread is now solved.. Thanks.
still have the old pc as the shop did not want it back anyway, due to it costing to much to fix and i was covered on an extended warranty which practically paid for the new pc, its just gathering dust under a desk
If the hard drive in the old PC is still OK you could pull it out, put it in an inexpensive case that converts it into an external drive you can connect via USB. But I wouldn't totally rely on the hard drive for critical storage -- it's always a question of WHEN and not IF the hard drive crashes ...
But it's a useful way of getting some benefit from the old bits and pieces.
i love extended warrantys, i think i hade about 1 week left on it so i was lucky there, good idea about the hard drive something to think about for later on, or should i say somthing for my techy guy to think about

That decision is up to you but it's very simple to carry out if you don't mind opening up the case of a computer. But if you don't have to pay the techie .....
If you decide to do something give a shout in Tech Outpost here since it's not a Norton related thing and I'm sure we can give some pointers -- NewEgg is where I go for information on what is available and often buy from them too.
