I have purchased Norton 360 Premium unfortunately I am not satisfied with the product, the main big mistake is that it does not know how to filter e-mails via POP3S. Why?
nd why could you release a product on the market that doesn't even know the basic thing that it can't filter POP3S?
Please email me that according to you is classic POP3 communication is secure? And even Norton antispam doesn't work well via POP3, I get a lot of spam.
And in the future, when do you plan to protect the POP3S port, because without it, e-mail communication is not secure?
[Edit note: Thank you for being a part of Norton Community. Your thread was moved from German to English section to be seen by contributors of your post language.]
In order to determine which protocol to use, you first need to know what protocols your Email Provider offers (pop3, smtp, or imap and whether they allow secure connection on these protocols).
Next, are you only using your PC or will you also be using a mobile device to check your email. Note, pop3 normally deletes emails from the server after downloading your new emails. imap allows for multiple logins and saves new emails on the sever.
Norton Antispam feature does not work with pop3 SSL nor imap protocols
So the question you need to ask yourself is do you need the Norton Antispam feature? If not, then using pop3 SSL or imap if using multiple devices may be a better alternative for your situation.
Good day,
this is not true, e.g. ESET INTERNET SECURITY https://www.eset.com/int/home/internet-security can or Kaspersky control POP3S ports, it can test and control the POP3S 995 port, but unfortunately I am not satisfied with the eset antivirus, because it does not catch all viruses.
Norton cannot scan encrypted/secured emails. That is why it cannot detect spam in incoming email and why the secured email ports are not supported by the feature. If Norton could scan it, then other bad guys would also be able to scan it. Which would defeat the purpose of secured email.
So you can only use the POP3 on port 110 if you want to use the spam filtering in Norton.
Norton does not support encrypted ports such as port 995. With these ports, it is best to contact your provider. He certainly has a guide on how to suppress such spam mails.
Good day,
thank you very much for the reply.
please email me that you recommend using POP3 or POP3S?
So please email me which port to use 110 or 995?
What do you recommend?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
Sincerely
Hello, I have to write something else, I hope you will understand me:
I'm using Microsoft 365 Outlook, the Outlook add-in is installed, but I'm not talking about it, unfortunately Norton 360 Premium can't control POP3S, only POP3, so I'm afraid I'm not secure, so I have to use POP3 port 110. That's why I want to use the POP3S port for OUTLOOK, but Norton 360 Premium can't just secure port 110.
Please email me, how can I use POP3S port 995 for MS 365 Outlook so that norton antivirus can test it, check it?
Overall, I'm happy with the Norton antivirus, all a lot of things are implemented in it, just the basic thing unfortunately doesn't work in it: it can't test, check PORT: POP3S number 995. And that's a big problem, lack of security.
