Hello, I recently encountered (what I believe to be) a Flash problem with Internet Explorer 10. Seems like everytime I try to view certain content with IE 10 which requires Flash, it crashes. I get an error that says APPCRASH IEXPLORER 10 and the fault module name is Flash.ocx version 11.8.800.94. IE then tries to reopen the content and it crashes again. I am using Windows 8 and pretty sure I have the latest version of Flash since it automatically updates. Youtube works fine though.
I happened like 2 weeks back, was steady for a bit then started crashing again.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I've been having Adobe Flash problems today with IE 10 and Windows 7 so I would put it down to something else.
On the CNN website when I opened it on my wife's desktop from the desktop shortcut icon, the image link near the very bottom to DIstractions / Baby turns tables on father does not load if you click on the image and throws up a white screen that this version of IE needs Adobe Flash Player 10.1 or later to run this video.
Well it has the 11.6.602.168 version installed under manage add-ons.
It asks do I want to install the "new" version and if I agree it starts to download and then says I need to close IE so I close the one with the Adobe website and it starts the progress bar again and then repeats the close IE again and again despite there being no instances of IE open. So I gave up.
Manage add-ons shows the flash player as still there and enabled.

Just tried all this on my wife's desktop and it's identical behavior. Tells me it needs at least 10.1 when I've got 11+ and while it fails if I open CNN from the desktop shortcut it does not fail if I open IE and use www.cnn,com to open CNN ........
That's all I've time for tonight. I'll see about posting some images tomorrow.
What I then found was that if I opened IE and entered www.CNN.com manually and go to it I can scroll down and the link to the video works .....
Go figure.
All this now on my desktop so I'll go back to my wife's and recheck there and report some more.
Hi Hugh,
Please do the following steps and see if it works:
A. Uninstall flash player and reboot. ( Add or remove programs etc).
B.
1. Choose Start > Run.
-
2. Copy and paste the following and click OK. C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
-
3. Delete all the files in this folder.
-
Follow step 1 to step 3 for the following:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
%appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player
Reboot again your pc.
After reboot all previous flash player versions are removed and you can now perform a clean install.
C. Download the latest full installer from here:
[Removed]
Please note that it's a 64-bit offline installer for IE, so save the file let's say to your desktop.
Right click on the file and run as admin.
Let the app install.
Reboot again.
Let us know if it works.
P.S. For further info please see: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html
Kindest regards,

Apostolos,
Thanks for those detailed instructions but I managed to fix it yesterday in a way that makes me think the CNN link may have been corrupted. As I mentioned it worked OK when I went to the page via a different route from my desktop and today both routes are OK.
In general, I am noticing that IE 10 is just prone to crashing. The most frustrating event seems to be when trying to attach something in G-Mail, then the Browser crashes.
