Posters are contenting that they acquired the Trojan malware via Adobe Flash (and Reader?) downloads/updates.
Can this be verified?
Which Adobe product(s)?
From what site(s) are they being downloaded?
Are you also installing the optional Google toolbars or Chrome browser?
Did you do anything else that might be the cause other than Adobe?
I updated my Adobe Reader X and Adobe Flash (without Google add-ons) within the last week from the Adobe site with no problems so far (no Norton warnings).
Any input to help us avoid this would be appreciated.
A new version of Flash Player was released today, so you may get a legitimate popup from Adobe. To be safe, I would advise users to go to the Adobe website and download the new version, rather than clicking a button in a popup - or, at least verify that the new version is indeed not the same version as what you already have before allowing the installation to proceed.
Thanks for the info SOJ,
I got the info this morning from Tech Outpost on the new flash update. I mainly use Chrome which right now has flash 11.3.300.265 and should update to the new version next time there's a Chrome update.
That being said, I'm going to go to Adobe and manually get my IE flash update because with the explosion of malware, I don't trust the desktop updates anymore the way I use to always receive them.

The installers contain both 32- and 64-bit installers and will install the correct one automatically.
The .msi and .exe files contain exactly the same installer, and in this case it doesn't really matter which one you pick. In general, though, when presented with both, though, picking a .exe might be the best option, because .exe installers check for compatibilty with the system before installing, while .msi installers just force the installation.
