Almost ripped off

POSSIBLE SCAM? BE AWARE!

I received an email form a 'reputable' company with a voucher enticing me to renew my subscription. I followed the link to subscribe and claim the offer. Nowhere in the email or in the renewal process was I informed of the renewal price. So before I committed I started a chat session with their support to check the renewal price. I was informed it would be £59.99. I was shocked and I felt disgusted that the company I have been using and was about to renew with would entice me with a voucher and hope that I would simply take out the renewal without checking first - I can get the exact same product on their website for just £39.99!

We all know about scam emails trying to entice us into handing over our cash but I did not expect it this NORTON!

I felt cheated that the company I am paying to keep me safe from scams like this are doing this to their regular customers. Bad form NORTON, you really should think better of your customers.

First thing to check is the sender of the original email you received. Is this email from Norton legitimate?

As for Norton taking the payment from your account, if you did not turn off Automatic Renewal, that is the way it works. And renewals are almost always more expensive than purchasing a new product key.

unbelievable after I told them and they confirmed NOT to renew.

But did you specifically tell then to turn off Auto Renewal. The agent may have taken your comment as not to renew the product as a result of that particular contact with support.

You can always contact Norton Support and request a refund of this auto renewal fee, and then make a purchase elsewhere for a better price.    www.norton.com/contactcs   If you mention the lesser price you saw on Norton's site, the agent may even match that for you. If you ask nicely...

UPDATE

Today NORTON took £74.99 form my account!!!! - unbelievable after I told them and they confirmed NOT to renew.
