Today, my and probably all norton users' Dota 2 game executable file "dota2.exe" is deleted because norton thinks it's a trojan horse. For anyone doesn't know about dota, it's a legitimate free-to-play game which can be downloaded from steam. Today, from out of nowhere, NIS 2014 just popped up a message saying that dota2.exe is infected with "trojan.ransomlock.q" and blocked it. And I'm 100000% sure that this is a huge false positive. When I searched the internet about this, I was amazed the amount of results that I found about this misery. Here's some posts from other users:
Restoring the exe file from quarantine also doesn't help, because firewall somehow continues to block the file and you cannot play the game. I believe that's a huge mistake effecting a lot of users and needs urgent attention. Yet another reason for me to not to renew my license after this month. Well done, norton..
