I have been subscribing to NMS for several years and my subscription was ending in about another year. I therefore bought another year to ensure that there was continuity of the service.
To my surprise, the extra year was not added to the present one, as I had intended. I then had a Chat session and it was explained to me that I had subscribed to a new program with a separate product key. I was then given the option of having my devices transferred to the new key and the remaining days added, or have the full year added to my existing key. I chose the latter and very promptly the desired result was obtained.
