An initial view of NIS21

I've just downloaded and installed the new Norton NIS 21.0.1.3, and have had a quick look around it.

I've noticed a few things that feel a bit different at the moment:

1. I had to search for where to export (backup) my ID Safe settings - they appear to be in a separate menu now instead of in the original Settings...Web...Identity Safe menu. Seems a bit counter-intuitive, but I expect we'll get used to it.

2. I notice that the option to convert to the cloud vault appears in quite a few places - I just hope I don't accidentally click the yes option as I don't know if it would be possible to convert back to the local vault once you're on the cloud vault (I prefer to stay with the local vault). Does anyone know if you can convert from cloud to local vault, or is it a "one way transfer" - local to cloud, and that's it? I know a lot of users have been pleading with Norton for some time to bring back the local vault, but I'm still not sure if that is now an option once you've converted to the cloud vault.

3. I don't know if this is a bug, but whenever I'm on a web page for which I have multiple logins, Norton displays all the logins automatically the first time I open the web page. But once I've chosen the required login, I can then reselect a different login if I want to - but only once more: the bar containing all the logins then disappears. This means that if I inadvertently chose the wrong login (albeit twice!), I would have to refresh or reload the web page to get all the logins displayed again. Has anyone else noticed this?

4. When filling in a form on a web page, for which I have saved the details in my local vault (e.g. credit card details), NIS20 used to give me the option to fill in the whole form in one go directly from the Norton Toolbar on the browser (IE10). I'm at a loss to know what to do with NIS21 as the "Vault is Open" tab on the Norton toolbar in IE10 only appears to bring up all my logins or to let me click on an icon that opens the Fill Assistant. There doesn't seem to be any way of getting it to fill in the form once I've chosen the appropriate details (e.g. which credit card from the "wallet") in the Fill Assistant pane. It seems to allow me to drag and drop each item separately from the Fill Assistant pane into the appropriate field on the form, but SURELY this can't be the new way of filling in forms (i.e. drag and drop one field at a time)! Is there any way of getting the whole form filled in in one go, having chosen the appropriate details from the vault?

5. Finally (a minor niggle) - if I check for any updates to NIS by right-clicking the NIS icon in the notification area of my desktop, it duly says that I have the latest version. However, if I log in to my Norton account online and check for upgrades there, it downloads the short app to do the checking and then reports that it can find no Norton products on my machine! This was never the case with previous versions of NIS, so I can only imagine it's something to do with NIS21?

I must admit to being a little disappointed at how counter-intuitive NIS21 is appearing to be (albeit having only just upgraded from NIS20). Some of the changes appear to be for change's sake, rather than to improve the functionality. I'm hoping that these issues are just teething problems and that Norton can fix them in due course.
