I am in dire help of getting my Toshiba laptop working again. Somehow, with Norton Internet Security still working, something went haywire with my laptop. One shut down and boot up later, a bunch of registry files were being "fixed." It looked normal to me since it was checking the disk for stuff or something like that. Then, once log in, it shows the Windows Classic blue wallpaper, and nothing else. No windows explorer or anything. So I try to manually start up windows explorer through task manager, but I recieved an error; it was something like "00000xc0000." I then run my laptop in safe mode, which finally works and relieves me that my data is fine. I then run my laptop in safe mode with networking and download Norton Power Eraser just to be safe. I do it, and I try normal start up again. Same blue wallpaper occurs. I then download MalwareBytes through another laptop because the networking stopped working in safe mode on my laptop. I run a full scan, and I pray it gets rid of all the malware. I restart again, and lo and behold, still the blue wallpaper. I then get desperate and run system restore. Unfortunately, after reading a little online after the system restore, the virus could have been backed up in system restore and put back onto my hard drive. I'm really panicking right now. Can anyone please help? I payed good money for Norton to completely protect my laptop with all my precious memories on it. Thanks!
