Android Auto and vpn split tunnel

Android Auto is not on the apps to add to split tunnel. VPN comes on when I leave home and then android auto won’t connect for the car. Checked the list, not there and can not add. What am I missing?

@cvtoloy Unfortunately the VPN doesn’t support Android Auto natively. Have you tried the following:

Managing Android Auto with Norton VPN

  • Connection issues: Android Auto often fails to launch or communicate with your car’s head unit while a VPN service is active on your phone. [1]

  • Manual disconnect: Most users have to manually turn off Norton VPN before plugging in or connecting wirelessly to Android Auto. [1]

  • Split tunneling workaround: You can try re-enabling the Split Tunneling feature inside your Norton mobile settings to exclude the Android Auto app (and related services like Google Maps) from the VPN tunnel, though results can vary. [1, 2]

Edited: I edited your 2nd screenshot, removing the product serial number for your protection against misuse.

Thank you for blocking that out. I did not realize that number was in the screenshot!

Yes, I manually turn off VPN when I leave the house.

Thank you!!!

Being that Norton doesn’t “natively” support Android Auto, I can only ask you to test connected directly to a USB port vice Bluetooth and see what results you may or may not get.

As a test, have you tried manually turning off the VPN before you get to your vehicle to see if Android Auto works correctly? Sometimes it is an issue with the vehicle’s connecting to your device and not necessarliy the VPN.
