I have a new Galaxy SIII and am trying to to set up a wireless connection to my PC through my home network. The last item is to allow it through my firewall. Windows firewall is being controled by Norton 360. I cannot find the correct setting that would allow the cell through the Norton Firewall. Cell says it is connected to the Wireless connection but will not sync or connect to the PC. What is the correct process that will allow this cell to reach my pc automatically in the future?
Thanks for reply Krusty13,
"Open N360 and go to Tasks > Check Network Security Map and make sure all devices have Shared security level"
I had no difficulty following your thread until I started looking for a shared security level. What I noticed is that only my PC was in the Network connection. I then changed the Network Details to "Full Trust" and tried to find the PC by scanning with the cell. Didn't work. So then I then added a device with my cell IP address and changed its security to "Full Trust" as well. Still nothing and the cell cannot find the PC and the PC cannot find the cell.
Yet my cell says it is connected very strongly to my Network? Also the Samsung Kies, ( I already think of Kies as a terrible software program,) instructions for making the wireless connection say the last step only involves clicking the "wireless portable device" in the windows firewall; which of course I cannot because it is controlled by Norton 360.
Also when I added the device in Norton as described above it said I should "select a category if applicable" but there was no where to make that selection. Now it just says under category "user defined."
I have a feeling I am not understanding what you intended that I do and that I should go back and reverse my changes and do something different. Any further instructions?
Hi Bruce1804,
There is a Samsung tutorial here, so check that you have done everything else correctly:

If your Norton Network Security Map shows that the Network Trust Level is "Shared," the firewall should not be blocking the connection, other things being equal. As long as you are behind a router, you can safely disable the Norton Firewall temporarily to see if you can get a connection. If not, then the issue is somewhere in the network (wrong passphrase, restricted MAC settings, etc.) rather than a firewall issue. If you can connect with the firewall turned off, you might try using the Firewall Reset option in the firewall settings which will cause Norton to recreate rules for your Samsung software.
Thanks! Obviously something else wrong as still not get through even with the Norton firewall turned off. Wiull continue to work on it from other angles.
