Another NIS full scan freeze problem

Is this something not to be so much worried of, since it seems to be common (after seeing pretty many discussions about this issue)? I have s new computer with Windows 7, 64-bit, NIS ver. 20.3. Everything else works, but NIS always freezes when running full scan. After framework stops responding, I close it and NIS icon disappears from my taskbar, but reappears a few seconds later. Scanning in safe mode, freezes. Disabled Windows Defender, freezes. Disabled compressed file thingy, freezes. Removed NIS with NRT and reistalled like 3x, still freezes. Nothing wrong in installation. No viruses found. I'm getting a bit desperate with this.

No, NIS is the first and only one been installed since my computer is new. All updates are checked properly and so on. If you could post more details about this scanners and system thing, what you mentioned, see if it could help at all.

Hi Ekki

As it’s a new computer it should have had some trial security software.  Can you check the add/remove programme the programme files and the programme data another option is to contact the supplier of the computer and ask if it has any trial security software.  The reason this is so important is that the tasks below will not affect any other security software that can be causing the problem.

Can I just check that you removed Norton as per instructions from the previous post?

May I suggest that you perform one task and check to see if it has any effect?

Backup your personal data and identity safe if you use it.

Do a registry back up first with mzbackup.

You might like to run check disc (see help and support from the start menu) it starts from a restart and takes some time to complete so make sure your power options are set to never turn off go to sleep or hibernate and the computer is on mains power, it is important that it finishes.

Defragmenting the hard disc (see help and support from the start menu) can take anything from a few hours to a day if its running let it run, again set the power options and be on mains power.

Use c cleaner and run the cleaner and registry buttons.

The scanners you can use in what ever order you like, don’t forget to get updates.  And save the log files that you might like to post if you find that it solves the problem.

All the software is freeware.

Seventh one down.

On the left hand pane of the c cleaner user interface there are check boxes that can be unchecked so that the files in these locations will not be deleted.

The three links below need the basic version downloaded not the trial or the pro the same when installing to avoid any real time protection which should be turned off as it can conflict with your security software.  To download latest version top RHS of page.  Install and get updates.

When installing uncheck the tea time option as it is real time protection that can conflict with Norton.

Thank you for your help.

My fellow friend build the computer by himself and he confirmed that no other security softwares than NIS was installed.

I always removed Norton like instructed. Yesterday, I removed Norton again and double checked if I was doing everything right. After reinstall, first full scan got through once quickly and without freezing, but after that it started to stop responding again when choosing full scan. Timed full scan works ok in customised scans. I removed NIS again today to see if it would again work for the first time trying to full scan, like yesterday, but this time with no luck. It doesn't even matter which file it's scanning, it always stops responding after 5 or 10 seconds.

I check and defrag my hard discs daily and use very actively CCleaner. Check disc and scanners found nothing out of the ordinary, everything was clean and fine.

Hi Ekki

Have you running autofix by clicking on the Norton icon, click support, click get support and let it run, then restart the computer.

Many times, no errors or anything unordinary found.

Is it safe to ignore this problem, since nothing seems to solve it?
