I have a small question, does the antispam module also protects Windows Live Mail (WLM)? I know it supports the regular Windows Mail and Outlook Express, but I can't find any toolbar of which I've read on this forum in WLM
Hi Corman,
Norton is only compatible with Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express and Windows Mail. You can read this at the link below under "System Requirements":
http://www.symantec.com/norton/internet-security
You can also read confirmation from a Symantec employee over here:
Thanks for the answer, even though it wasn't the answer I was looking for
Do you happen to know if there are plans of making it compatible?
Sorry - no idea :-) Maybe NIS 2011...? :-D
Gives me a reason to upgrade when it's there
Yaso,
I'm not using anything actively for email but Outlook Express at present although I have had email collected using Thunderbird under Windows 7 and this raises the question of what is meant by "supported".
So far as Thunderbird is concerned Norton AntiSpam does not put a Norton button on the toolbar but you can use it to identify and sort Spam to a specific folder.
Thunderbird defaults to putting spam in a folder called junk and you can organize Norton AntiSpam to put the spam it labels in the same way as in Outllok Express -- [Norton AntiSpam] as part of the subject -- and put it into the Junk folder along with any that is identified as spam by Thunderbird.
Or you can do what I did for continuity and that is set up a folder called Norton AntiSpam and put both kinds of spam into that folder and not use the Junk folder, which I deleted.
So do you know if the position is the same with Windows Live Mail -- that Norton AntiSpam will identify spam and sort it into a folder you designate but you do not get the This is Spam / This is not Spam button facility.
I am not positive on this but I think you can right mouse click on a spam and select This is not Spam -- but don't take that as gospel since I don't have either Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail working on Windows 7 at the moment.
It's rather like understanding that "We do not support such and such" does not mean it won't work!
I can't find any trace of Norton in Windows Live Mail.

Which, according to my understanding at least, is what Symantec employee Kavitha also indicated (cf. second link in my previous post); the AntiSpam toolbar is not integrated into non-supported e-mail clients. The most you can do is create a Norton AntiSpam folder, as huwyngr said; more information on how to do this is available over here:
